    Customer service was great.
Everything else kinda sucked. Room was super small, and kinda dirty. Office chair provided for the desk area was broken, we were missing a light bulb in one of the main lamps. The switch in the main room worked the entire bathroom area.

Clean hotel, cheap nightly rates. Overall good experience just watch out for the bums in the parking lot hitting you up for cash.

  • Aug 09, 2023 by Kennetha McNeil-Preston

Friday, August 4th, I checked in. The toilet didn't work. He moved me to another room with not enough towels, and the AC didn't work. I sent my son to ask about the towels, and my son said there weren't more, and he asked to stop waking him up, so I did not tell him the AC didn't work.
Saturday morning, guys, was nice. I had coffee with him.
Sunday, I wanted coffee she said there wasn't any( front wasn't open). I went back 30 min later to check out, and I rang bell and bang on the door for 20 mins before a kid came to the door saying he had his head phone on and didn't hear. I would never stay here again.

Front person was ok until it was time to get immediate refund. Checked in. Even paid cash. Went to our room and was greeted by flys!!! Yes Flys!!!! We had e rooms all the same. Sheets were disgusting burn marks. Mattress felt like a water bed. It's was just a BAD experience and almost every other hotel was booked. Luckily the bear by Super 8 was surprisingly 100 times better.

This is a terrible place to stay. The sheets was gross and had cigarette burns. I had to go buy a set of sheets before I would even consider sleeping here. We had no choice as to where we could stay everything else was sold out. Their was no smoke detector only bare wires hanging from the ceiling. ONLY AS A LAST RESORT ! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AT ALL

If your in a bind and have to have somewhere to stay then this will do. Wasn't completely impressed. Advertising said a pool and breakfast, they have neither. The sign outside even mentions breakfast. No remote in room, tried to change rooms 3 times, 2 times because the toilet wouldn't flush, the other because the AC wouldn't turn on. I didn't pay for my room, so I didn't complain much. After 12 hours in a car, a shower and a bed are all I wanted. The shower head leaked, the ac didn't cool very well, and the manager seems to be the only maintenance person on site. Only one ice machine works, and no vending machines work. Prolly won't stay here again when I come back this way.

    We love it here!
    First impression.
When I first came in to the lobby the manger behind the counter was helping a pair of children. He was very nice and respectful to them and treated them like they were any other paying adults. Refreshing.

The man was very polite and helpful to me and we checked in.
We had adjoining rooms. One single king and one double queen. Both rooms were very clean. VERY clean.
The a/c worked great in both rooms.
    Rooms 204 & 205

Premium channels do have scrolling horizontal lines but it's no big deal.

The pool area is very clean and well kept. The parking lot and walkways are very clean.

The housekeeping staff is super friendly and respectful and I swear they actually enjoy their work! I observed them in their duties, on several occasions, when they did not know I was hanging around and it was all smiles and laughs! They were even picking up the lamps and dusting underneath them. I had a large bag of household trash (we used a regular garbage can in our rooms instead of the tiny hotel trash cans). I asked a housekeeper where the dumpster was so that I could dispose of the bag myself as it would be ridiculous to expect them to deal with that. They wouldn't have it! They insisted that it was their pleasure to bring the bag and simply wouldn't allow me to bring it myself. Understand that they weren't rude or anything, that they sincerely wanted to do it. All smiles all the time. I wouldn't let them clean the room one day (the baby was sleeping) and they seemed disappointed. When I told her I would make sure the room would be available the next day it was all huge, toothy smiles again. The lady was sincerely happy to be able to clean the room! I've never seen that before.

The rooms are set far enough away from the highway that road noise was negligible.

Mr. Bob, the maintenance man, was a delight. Very friendly and personable and eager to help or make conversation. He appreciated the time can ash tray with automatic closing lid that I made for smoking outdoors and even showed it off to other guests which was endearing.

Is this place perfect in every single way? No. How could it be for the low rates they charge? Is it better than average for the price? Way better than average. Now include all the wonderful points about the staff and it's a five star rating for me.

Maybe I'll get some photos later. Maybe I'll just stay in this comfortable bed and the blasting air conditioning instead. =-)

I drove over 20 hours to Jasper with my dog. As one of the only places I had time to find that was willing to accept my dog I was exhausted and relieved when I arrived. I was immediately "greeted" by the front desk clerk with an attitude of being annoyed and extremely bothered. I tried to lighten her mood by being as pleasant as possible but I tell you she became outright rude, snappy and disrespectful. Still just wanting to rest I paid for the room, I even paid for an upgrade. The room was disgusting. Fly infested, water bugs/ roaches not sure which, dirty sheets, feces smeared inside the restroom on the wall, the tv didn't work, there was a whole in the wall in the restroom about 5inches in diameter where you could see clear outside where bugs continued to come in. I took pictures because it was so unbelievable. If there were an option to give less than one star I would. my stay here was an absolute nightmare.

Traveling with my son for work... we had to move hotels bcuz of bed bugs . Floors were not clean.. and we had to rig the shower to get it to work. Would not recommend.

  • Sep 07, 2020 by Mike P.

This place is gross! The owner is a jerk! Rooms stink, wall and floor are dirty! Was here to restore power to the community after the hurricane price started at $78 a night, after three nights he jacked it up to $101! First three nights we had to clean our own room and go to office to get sheets, blankets and towels, please go anywhere but to this price gouging ass hotel

  • Sep 20, 2019 by Sara S.

I had to evacuate during the storm and stayed here with my kids.....there were roaches and bed bugs...

  • Jan 06, 2019 by mrsbrat76

We stayed and was pleased with the comfort of the beds. The walls looked like they had fecal matter smeared on the walls. The bathroom ceiling looked like it was about to fall in from the bath above. Will not be staying there again.

  • Dec 28, 2017 by Dominick D.

No in room coffee. I asked for one and they did give me a little one to bring to my room with some coffee. Opened up coffee in the morning and it was rotten! Heater did not work in my room. Holes in the walls along with some brown splatters on the wall by the desk!

I stayed for 4 nights. Excellent lodging for the price. Why pay double with the others across the street when you don't have too. With the money I saved I was able to treat my 6 friends to dinner 3 nights!! Staff was very friendly and helpful. Hotel was secure and you park in front of your room, I like that. The room was more than satisfactory. Very clean and comfortable, king bed, cable tv, wifi, microwave, fridge and coffee maker included. Didn't hear outside noise even though I was close to the highway. Overall EconoLodge exceeded my expectations, so this will be my go to hotel on return visits.

  • Apr 25, 2017 by Canadiatravelgoddess

Clean rooms, affordable prices and great breakfast. Friendly staff and working wifi and central location. Parking was free and property felt very safe would stay away without any hesitation. The best econo lodge I've ever stayed at.

  • Mar 27, 2017 by Jon A.

As others have said, inexpensive but you get what you pay for. Non-smoking room smelled of smoke because people feel like they should smoke outside and it all flows in anyway. There was no remote for the TV, but the controls on the side worked fine so no big deal to me. Had to ask for the wifi password, but no problems after that. There is a nice pan-Asian restaurant in the parking lot, and it was pretty good.

Upon first glance this hotel seemed fairly decent for a nights stay. I was in town for a wedding & the bridal party & family were all staying here so my room was booked with everyone else. The lobby was very small with a tiny breakfast area & a front desk. The gentleman working the front desk was polite & asked for my ID information (typical check in stuff). It should be noted that they require payment up front & charge your card immediately. Upon entering the room I noticed a strong musty/moldy odor, & that the room overall was dingy & not very clean. The smoke detector for the room had been pulled off the wall & was placed behind the tv, this is a major safety issue! Because the wedding was in an hour I was rushing to get ready & quickly realized that none of the plugs in the room worked & the GFI plug in the bathroom was shattered & falling from the wall. I called the front desk & spoke to the manager who cut me off mid sentence to tell me to come down & he would assign me a new room. I walked down to the office & he handed me a new key stating "this is the last room I have" basically telling me that I have no other options but to be ok with it. I politely smiled & headed for my new room, which happened to be the room next door to the disaster I was just in. This room had the exact same odor & was also missing a smoke detector. There was hair in the bathtub, small black hairs on the bed, & again it felt very unclean. At this point I had no choice but to get ready quickly & get to the wedding. I got ready packed my stuff up & dropped the key off with the front desk. I told the man that I just couldn't stay here due to the cleanliness & lack of smoke detector (I did not feel safe) he tried to explain that the lack of smoke detector was due to the coffee pots..however neither room I was in had a coffee pot..? I was so distraught that I did not ask about a refund or honestly care at that point, I just knew that there was no way I could stay there. I was however pleasantly surprised the next day to find that my money had been refunded. It is a "budget" hotel so I wasn't expecting much, however safety & cleanliness are top priority regardless.

Stayed in Jasper for two nights to visit friends. This lodge left a lot to be desired. The staff was very nice. But the beds were so wrinkled under the top spread, I had to remake in order to be comfortable. Turns out the two mattress pads were not laying flat and causing lots of bunching under the sheet. There was no blanket on top. Just the top sheet and spread. No coffeepot as shown on the website. The towel rack was broken off in the bathroom. Looks like it used to be an attractive small hotel as some point but now needs some serious updating. Don't know about the wifi as we did not use it. This motel is used primarily by workman, friendly guys coming and going and it did seem safe. The breakfast was continental.

Booked this property on line got there and checked in was in a hurry to get to a homecoming game to see my god daughter run for homecoming queen and got back to property and find that mice had gotten in to my bag of food that was left on the bed my husband reported it to the front office and nothing was done!

  • Oct 19, 2015 by william766

When entering the room clock alarm radio was blaring no telling how long it had been on. Room had a musty smell and only three pillows for two people. Shower/tub had a rubber mat that look like it had seen better days. Vent in bathroom was rusty looking and had a heater in there I would be afraid to touch. Suppose to have a continental breakfast that was anything but continental, asked person at the desk for decaf coffee like the sign said she said they didn't have any and that was the end of conversation. What ever food was virtually gone (I guess they had some kind of subway sandwich) only waffles, and a few other items were available. Expected a little better since it was not 9am closing time.

as a business traveler these reviews are important, it was a pleasure to stay in a nice room, good hot shower, quiet, beds you could sleep on and very good internet. Pleasant check in good rates and clean

  • Jan 04, 2015 by Tonya S.

Inexpensive, but we got what we paid for. Old and very smelly. Check in was quick and easy, but sheets were not clean and we had to ask for fresh bed linens. We were staying in town for a funeral and were too emotionally and physically drained to relocate. We just got clean sheets from the front desk and went to sleep. Would never stay here again.

Upon arrival to the hotel, the King room I requested was not available. The room a/c had not been on in days and the room smelled musty, irritating my spouses asthma. I walked into the shower area and found a dirty wash cloth hanging on the shower rod. The shower was adequate, but the "black" water marks on the ceiling were disturbing. The sheets on the double beds were well worn. Ihere was little positive to say, other than the walls showed fresh paint.

Stayed for two nights, nice friendly staff, decent room, continental breakfast and good location for the pineywoods area. A few decent restaurants nearby and a few supermarkets. Lots of nearby national parks worth a visit including martin dies and boykin springs in the angelina forest.

This was a really nice motel, right on the main highway(190) about mid-way between everything. Wal-Mart close by, restaurant on the parking lot, big truck parking-boat parking, swimming pool,Very nice rooms, good beds and pillows. Very nice friendly people. A good place to stay. Good prices. Will go back again when I'm through that part of Texas.

There's a Holiday Inn Express across the street; a much better choice. This hotel may be the worse I have stayed in over the last forty years. The single sheet over the bed (no blankets) had large grease spots and paint on it. the rooms are barely furnished, buggy, dingy and dirty. This is not a "gem" but it does smell like a "gym." They ask for payment in advance... now I know why.

Pitiful breakfast, Lumpy beds. Also , I pais for three nights but only used two but could not get refund even though I checked out at 8:00 in the morning. They also turned the air off when they cleaned the room leaving the room hot and stuffy when I returned.

I was born in Jasper, Texas and have family in Newton. This was my first time staying in a motel so close to family, but the car was full!! 4 kiddos and myself just couldnt crash in on everyone so late at night. I have read other reviews on here and Autrevie claimed the rooms were dirty and smelled of the asphalt from outside. I couldnt DISAGREE more! Im a clean freak and I was totally pleased with how VERY CLEAN everything was. Even the air filter was new and yes i checked considering i have asthma. The breakfast consist of waffles and cereal. Plenty of juice and coffee. We will stay again. Mr. Pattel was a great host. Great price for the family budget and I didnt even have alergies the next day! Thanks Econo lodge of Jasper!!!

I stayed here for one night, 7/23/12, and will not stay here again. It's a motel with room doors all facing FM-63, currently being repaved, strong odor of asphalt. Lobby is tiny, and not really a place to sit. Rooms are dark, slightly dirty, poor vacuuming. Breakfast was free but very limited and all sweet carbohydrates. Clientele appeared to be all male truckers and oilfield workers. First room we were shown was ground floor, handicapped. Dark black-red wall was not nice; single window faced dark walkway, so no light coming in. Toilet didn't work, two table lamps, light bulb in one was burned out. Asked for another. Front desk manager was polite, attentive, friendly. Next room was on balcony level. Stairways were open and seemed safe. But wall behind headboards of second was dark orange (WHY?) and room had only one lamp! Too dark, dingy; old, dark carpeting. Rooms did not resemble other pictures posted here. This is not a new hotel; do not understand comment from "chetanjasper." Good points: strong shower flow with adequate hot water, flat screen TV, low price. Good restaurant close by: Elijah's Cafe.

I travel extensively for work and came across this little gem of a hotel by accident. I was on my way to Houston from Ft. Polk, La and hit Jasper just as I was getting tired of the drive. I stopped by another brand hotel but was told they were sold out so I went to Econo Lodge hoping for a room. I was greeted by Vinay, friendliest front desk agent I've met in a LONG time! He went out of his way to make sure that I had the exact room I wanted (King), in the exact location I wanted (off of the highway in the back corner), and even offered to help carry some of my baggage to my room (I had a ton of boxes that I needed to work on a project). I was pleasantly surprised to find that my room was immaculate. You cannot find cleaner rooms than this! The room was a nice size, smelled fresh (not that musty smell some hotels get), and the clean bedsheets were heavenly to melt into. Everything was in working order, never had to complain - not once. I received my wake up call exactly on time, had a fantastic cup of coffee with great conversation with Chet (one of the managers). The staff at the hotel was A++, from the housekeepers who didn't miss a single grain of dust, to the front desk staff that worked hard to ensure I had the exact room I desired, to the management team that came out from behind their desks to interact with their guests. I couldn't recommend this hotel more! When passing through Jasper, I will be SURE to stay at this hotel again! Thanks everyone!

For traveling on business day to day, I do not think I could of got a better room for the price I paid. Great folks! The interent was fast and the breakfast was superb. Clean pool and get this the place also has a exercise room with a weights. Clean, looks new, and reasonable priced with an excellent location. Stayed here for 2 weeks with my guys, sure stay here when in jasper!

I am doing a travel assignment @ Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital. Have stayed at this hotel for the last 13 weeks, and have reported all problems to management mulyiple times!!! The last staw was this trip that I already had extenuating circumstances, and a pre-book for a single bed first floor room since Feb. The manager/owner/operator has given me a VERY sour outlook on all econo-lodges. I am fully aware that you get what you pay for; and it is cleaned daily, with a micro-fridge, microwave, twin bed (for most of my stays) bath ect... However, this hotel staff and service does nothing to be helpful, courteous, or willing to bend any rules/regs.
