    Really I have two complaints
    1. The maids started banging doors at 7am everyday for the 3 weeks that I have stayed at the hotel. Typically my stays are long term but I can get called away immediately.

    2. This one really agitated me. My wife called me and asked me if I came in the room and I said no I’m at work. She went on to tell me someone came into the room when she was in the shower. No knock, didn’t identify themselves, and did not call me to enter the room. This is invasion of my privacy especially for my wife. What if she walked out of the bathroom naked as she normally does and have someone in the room grabbing the coffee maker. I called IHG and spoke to them and I was told to speak to the manager. Once I was able to get a hold of the manager he stated that shouldn’t have happened and apologized. He also stated he would call his boss and get back to me. That has not happened. I have walked past him in the morning multiple times and nothing. I will most definitely speak to him in the morning to see what has been done. I have been an upper tier visitor to IHG hotels. I have also never had someone enter my room without calling me first to make sure it was okay. Ladies PLEASE make sure your door is fully locked prior to getting in the shower.

Great location. Comfy room. Pearl was so sweet. We enjoyed the hot cookies as a special treat when we arrived.

We chose this hotel because it was one of the hotels with available rooms late at night in our road-trip. Parking was easy. Checkin took more than 30 minutes as the hotel was overbooked and the front desk couldn't reach out their manager. There was strong bleach/chlorine smell everywhere. Due to long wait, kids went to the bathroom at the lobby. The restroom was dirty and there was "no door". Our room was not very clean but it was OK for one night. After using the shower a strong smell came from the bathtub frequently, that was annoying. Sleep quality was not good, because beds were not comfortable. On the positive side it was a safe stay and the breakfast in the morning had various options.

Breakfast was pretty good and the rooms were clean, good place to stop when traveling on the 10 freeway. There's a pool too but it's too cold rn lol

First of all, I wish I could give this “hotel” a zero star rating. I called at around 1:50pm to make reservations. Asked for 2 rooms. There’s 4 adults and 3 kids. The girl on the phone asked if I wanted to leave a card on file or pay when I got here. I said,, I’ll pay when I get there just to make sure we don’t run into anything on the road. She said no problem and gave me a confirmation number. We finally arrive to the “hotel” around 10:30pm to check in and the lady at the front tells me she only has me down for one room and it wasn’t even the room I had asked for. So I ended up having to pay for a suite instead of just a regular room with two beds,,,, thankfully there was “one more room” available for the other family traveling with us. Disaster! Ok no biggie, we get into the room and my son wanted to get on the bed so I went to help him and realized the beds were all wrinkly almost as if the beds were just “kinda” done. Ugh!!!! Trying to stay cool. Well, I get into the bathroom to take a long shower from being on the road for hoursssss from Florida and guess what… there’s freaking mold all over the shower. How the heck are they getting away with this? This is ridiculous and so uncalled for. I wouldn’t doubt it if there’s freaking bed bugs crawling everywhere. The sheer curtains have some kind of stain at the bottom from who knows what.. I’m sorry but as large as Holiday Inn chain is I’m sure they can afford to fix these ridiculous issues to ensure customers are happy!

Stayed in room 206... my goodness the hotel room was absolutely disgusting. Shower tub was dirty, floors looked like no one vacuumed them and on top of that we found someone else hairs in our bedsheets right before sleep. Not to mention I had to wait 10 minutes just to check in because there's no staff in the front to attend to their customers 0/5 stars

  • Nov 15, 2024 by Jack Waldron

Checked in about 5:00. Luke warm water for a shower shortly after. The room smelled a little like a mouse had died in it. The bed was comfortable, and there was a large variety of channels on the TV. Check-in was easy, and I like the location.

We picked Holiday Inn express because we thought it was a good hotel. I was wrong. My and I husband went inside. The young woman at the counter was very rude. We asked if we could get a AAA discount. She told us "no". We would have to reserve on line. We are right here in front of her, why do I need to reserve online to get a AAA discount?
Once we got to our room, the bathtub had a huge disgusting stain. I tried to scrub it and it wouldn't come off. I didn't ask for another room because she was rude and didn't want to deal with her again.
The next morning I went to the front desk and asked if they had a bandaid. This time it was a guy. He said no. I told him about the stain. He didn't care and told me again that they didn't have a bandaid. I asked for a manager both times and was told "He's not here".
I will never go here again because of the lack of any customer service and rude workers and a nasty stain that nobody cared about. I have changed my opinion of Holiday Inn express. Won't be staying in one again.

This wasn't a terrible stay, and the cost was very reasonable. Clean beds and mostly clean everything else, as others have mentioned, for some reason the tubs need to be replaced. Move had rust on it. I also wasn't very happy to find moths in the Window shades after opening them in the am, moths are critters that will stick to your luggage and bring home. Overall i give it 3 stars just because breakfast was amazing.

Front desk was great told me local restaurant to try room was smelled great bed was comfortable definitely stay again did a amazing job the staff and housekeeping

Stayed as a family as part of a cross-country road trip. This is a quiet property, which we appreciated. The pool is outdoors and is open until 2200 hours. Quiet time hours are from 2200 until 0700. The front desk staff were welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was as expected and not crowded at all. Getting to this location from the highway is not a direct route. There are several dining options down the road in the town.

Clean and comfortable room nice staff. The young gentleman I met Tyler was super professional and made me feel at home. I DEMAND PROMOTING HIM IMMEDIATLY! AND A HUGE PAY BUMP! Sorry for yelling.

We needed to change our room last minute due to amount of people we had with us. Jeremiah accommodated us upon arrival and took care of us. We were very grateful he worked it out for us. We will be back here in a month and this will be our place to stay again! Thanks Jeremiah!

Excellent facility. Very clean. Didn't like the step-in tub/shower. Frig with freezer is a plus for ice packs. Another plus was an ice machine on each floor that worked!! Plenty of parking. Well lit parking lot. Bar-b-que restaurant across the road. Great food!

  • Apr 07, 2024 by John Payne

Clean, spacious rooms. Nice hot breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff. Noon checkout is convenient. Our tub did have a chunk taken out of it, though, which was not great. Otherwise, terrific experience! Very glad we found this place. (:

Passing through town, we stayed the night. Excellent experience! Clean room, housekeeping paid attention to details! Impressed with the front desk staff. Breakfast was fresh and delicious! If we ever come back to the area will stay again!

  • Feb 27, 2024 by kcbruder

Great hotel! Clean, comfortable beds, direct TV in the rooms, Microwave and a good side fridge and a Keurig coffee maker. Breakfast was great, they have a laundry room, fitness center, and a little area in the lobby to purchase frozen foods and other items. I will defiantly stay here again.

Frankly, I am shocked this hotel doesn't have daily five-star reviews. The staff has been super friendly, literally every single person I've talked to. I am a young, solo female traveler who didn't come in until midnight. The parking lot was so well lit, I felt incredibly safe. Walking into the building it smells clean, is well lit. My room was exactly as pictured online which very rarely happens. Check in took only minutes. The shower head is the best I've ever used, ever. My room is clean. The free breakfast was hands down the best continental breakfast I've had at a hotel for this price. Pancakes made to order, legit hot cinnamon rolls, biscuits and gravy, omelets, bacon, sausage, three different juice choices. I only paid $112 for the night. Honestly, I can't recommend My experience here high enough. I've stayed in many West Texas hotels and this one far and above exceeded my expectations.

Love Holiday Inn by HIG. They always have the best rooms! Super clean, spacious, and everything always looks amazing.

  • Mar 04, 2023 by Randolph N

Easy check in with nice front staff. Room was clean. AC, WIFI, TV, Bathroom and bed were all fine. Lots of parking available. Breakfast was excellent with cheese omelets, cinnamon rolls, coffee, milk, fruit, bagels etc. Lady who was working the breakfast area was very nice and kept everything clean and well stocked. I will stay here again when passing through Ft. Stockton.

  • Jan 29, 2023 by Beth S

Nice HIE with newer flooring instead of carpet. Convenient size bathroom that worked for two people. This was a travel stop for one night and suited us just fine. The computer was down when we arrived but we were given rooms and that didn't present a problem. We stopped by the desk on the way out.

  • Aug 22, 2022 by Hope W.

Stayed here once before a couple years ago and had a much better experience then compared to now. To start, cleaning was subpar as I found hair and specks of dirt in the shower. There was no one at the front desk when I was ready to check out at 5:45AM though I had just seen an older guy there just half an hour before when I was loading the luggage in my car. I dialed the number posted on the desk to check out and James (who was supposed to beat the front desk) was not willing to come and check me out. Not only that, when I asked if I could at least get a copy of my receipt he said "Well you booked with a third party so you'll have to give it from them." Excuse me! What?! I received receipts from the other hotels along my stay as soon as I checked out without issue. Very disappointing. I will not return.

Our room was very comfortable; the bed/pillows and the shower were all nice. We slept really well here - very quiet. The staff were really nice and the breakfast in the morning was hearty and filling. Holiday Inn does a great job. I highly recommend this property.

  • Jul 31, 2021 by hd c

Very nice clean hotel in a small west Texas town. Very impressed by the friendly staff, clean room and cold ac in the room. Bed was comfortable along with the pillows. Our room was quite large with high ceilings so you didn't feel like you were in a small typical hotel room.

  • Jun 16, 2021 by melwashere81

When we checked in and got to our room the cleaning crew was not done with it yet. This was 30 minutes past check in time. The lady at the front upgraded us to a suite closer to the pool which was super nice of her. The room was clean and comfortable and the pool was refreshing. The breakfast was just ok but you shouldn't expect much from a free breakfast anyway. I would stay here again.

I stayed at this property Mar 29-30 2021, Room 210. Everything went well, room was clean, micro/fridge. Staff was pleasant. Parking effortless, w/ plenty of space for oversized vehicles. Not too far from I-10 and several restaurants nearby. I would stay here again.

This was an excellent experience. We were traveling with two toddlers and felt very comfortable as soon as we entered this establishment. It was immaculate and the staff wore masks and were social distancing. They also asked their guest to do the same, which also bade me feel comfortable and that my grandchildren were in a safe and sanitized environment during this pandemic. They were very accommodating and the carts were cleaned and sanitized before and after use. The breakfast was really good and we enjoyed it in our room. I definitely recommend staying here with your family.

Although I’m sure the hotel itself is great, it is NOT pet friendly (the information on this site says it is). I made sure to check before making my reservation, but upon showing up was told I could not stay here with my dog. The hotel manager was nice about it, and I understand that policies change (and sites can get information wrong), but I don’t want anyone else to pay for a reservation they can’t use.

First thing that I was not happy about the guy when my husband checked in commented about us asking for military discount " some people abuse the discount" my question is why he has to comment about it if the company offers it. We showed our military ID and he was looking for orders? Put that in your website only military discount with orders in hand. We got to to the room the mouth wash was open TV no remote, breakfast serving very hard brown sugar it is hard as a rock. Rm 214 bathroom looks like mold issue .

I did stay in this hotel one night and did not have any issues. Room and bathroom was nice and clean. All lights and A/C worked. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful. I would not have a problem staying here again if I am back this way.

So much rust in bath that we were afraid to enter. When I called the front desk, she said that they were aware of the problem and would have given us a discount had we not been Priceline customers. We didn’t want a discount— just a room with a clean tub. Trash in breakfast area at opening looked like it had not been taken out in days. Bad for the brand!

  • Oct 09, 2019 by Spencer1952

I was so hoping this Hoiday Inn would be as nice as the one I stayed in last night. Check in was great. Friendly front desk personnel. When I walked into the room I was disappointed. Carpet needs a through cleaning. The room had a sharp musky smell. Soap from the last guest still in the shower. Mold or rust in the shower/tub combination. The hotel on the outside looks new. Seems to me cleaning standard on the inside needs to be improved. I used to be an inspector for the housekeeping inspector for a resort. Cleaning the carpet in this room as well as the hallway would make a world of difference.

Our stay was soooo comfy. Very clean and well appointed rooms for me and my family. The bed was just right with firm and soft pillows. Would suit the fussiest Goldilocks! We are used to high end Vegas stays and this did not disappoint. Breakfast included had lots of choices, clean and well stocked with omelets, bacon and sausage , even a pancake machine that worked quickly and amused the kids. Staff very courteous and responsive too!

  • Sep 01, 2019 by MightyJoe

Got in a bit late...still had a room(smile), my eyes were closed before I hit the soft pillows... woke up and went the elevator to a very healthy conscious breakfast, Turkey Sausage, Egg White omelets, Yogurts, Milk and Juices, of course had to top it all off with some coffee.

  • Jul 07, 2019 by ArizonaRose58

This hotel is off of I-10 down a bit on Dickenson, which is nice, for reduced traffic noise. We got in a bit late, 8 p.m., but staff were lovely and we got a room facing the back, rather than the road. It was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was basic, but fresh and hot. I would definitely recommend this hotel. It is also just across the street from K-Bob, a family restaurant, which we could walk to.

  • Jun 05, 2019 by nanceb4019

We have stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Stockton, Texas several times while traveling through Texas. This time was a big disappointment! Upon entering, we noticed overflowing trash cans and worn out boot and shoe scrapers. Inside the door, we were almost blown over by the intense odor of Lysol or bleach cleaner which made us wonder "what died in here"? It was so strong, we commented to the front desk clerk and her reply was "i mix Lysol and vinegar together to clean". The room was also in need of repair. Come on Holiday Inn! We expect better! And travelers, maybe give them a little time to bring this hotel back up to speed!

  • Mar 02, 2019 by Laurence1001

It's on the edge of the Permian Basin so rates tend to be higher than the room is worth. The rooms are well-maintained and clean, just a little pricey. You will have noise early in the morning as oilfield contractors head out. Breakfast was very good. The lobby area had a sterile look, kind of like a hospital.

  • Feb 18, 2019 by Gregory

    Clean rooms and friendly service!

  • Feb 04, 2019 by ColoradoBear

We began our trip in Tucson, on our way to San Antonio so we needed to stop along the way and we chose here. Great decision. Our hostess/clerk was super nice and polite. Our room was very comfortable, neat, and quiet. The desk clerk recommended K- Bob's for dinner and she was spot on. It was right across the street so we could walk. Everything was scratch made! Super salad bar! Cold beer! Breakfast was delicious and filling. Those cinnamon buns are terrific. Stay here!

  • Jan 01, 2019 by Donna K

Stopped in for a room because the description of amenities shows Pets Permitted, but the front desk says NO. Please update your profile. It is misleading and other Holiday Inn Express’s do allow pets.

  • Nov 24, 2018 by Peachy K.

For $175 per night, you'd think they could have someone at the front desk. I've been waiting for ten minutes with no signs of life... I feel like an idiot calling out hello. They have my money and I can't leave... I could see that kind of service at Motel 6, but again, for this price I would expect someone at the desk. Eleven minutes now... hello?? Anyone home?

  • Oct 12, 2018 by Kevin S

The room was very expensive for what you get, 165.00, 3rd floor hallway smells like urine terribly, in room, tub was dirty, had couple bottles of shampoo and conditioner under counter in bathroom, remote to tv didn't work. Unlikely I will stay here again.

  • Sep 01, 2018 by James W.

This was yet another great Holiday Inn stay. Fairly new hotel with clean rooms, comfortable beds, quiet hallways and very friendly staff to name just some of the things that make your stay great. The free breakfast was good as well but they all pretty much serve the same thing. I really wish they'd do away with the cheese omelette as its way to salty and it's nasty. Great rewards program that really works and pays off. But this Holiday Inn has something very special about its location. It's across the street from a great steakhouse called K-Bob's which makes this stay that much better.

  • Aug 29, 2018 by gilljm

The hotel was ok. Room was clean and bed comfortable. They did have a card saying the bed was new. My husband was woken a few times during night with people leaving very early in the morning - 2, 3, 4 am etc . Breakfast was disgusting - only fruit there was bruised and off - 1 only bruised apple and black bananas . Omelette in hot box inedible they were so old and I was not the only person unable to eat this - I saw other people throwing this out with only 1 “ bite or cut “ off it . The boiled egg I tried instead was sitting in a pool of water so wondered how long it sat there. Worst breakfast of all holiday inn stays this visit / holiday.

  • Aug 29, 2018 by Rose C.

The place is clean and quiet. The beds are magnificent. The breakfast is typical Holiday Inn fare but they have Cinnabons, and who can take exception to that. The food prep area was Immaculate and the ladies who run the kitchen were very helpful and very polite . The front desk and all of the service people are very pleasant and very welcoming. It's tough to navigate around several turns off of I-10 to get to the Holiday Inn Express but believe me it's worth it.

  • Aug 12, 2018 by Janine L.

This is the absolute worst Holiday Inn Express we've ever stayed in. We specifically look for this chain because they're usually clean and reasonably priced. This one is way over priced. The rooms and hallways have a horrible funky smell. The pool is disgusting and closed "for maintenance". The tub has a nasty chunk missing right in the middle. To say we are disappointed would be an extreme understatement.

  • Jul 09, 2018 by BusiTravTX

The operators of this location exercise an unethical practice of price-gouging on remaining rooms when their occupancy approaches capacity. I discovered this quite by accident when I mistakenly queried the current date for a rate on my future stay. As a frequent traveler and long-time patron of the Holiday Inn Express chain, I've often booked rooms at the last minute... NEVER have I encountered a 37% premium in a rate because I didn't book it a week out. Whatever their justification, this is out-and-out gouging. Not only did I book my coming stay in Fort Stockton with a competitor, the discovery of this practice by this location has lost the Holiday Inn Express chain a loyal customer in perpetuity.

Rooms were booked, we had an emergency in New Mexico en route to Fort Stockton, a flat tire in the Gila National Forest. As soon as we could get to a place that had phone service, the hotel was called to advise and they said there was nothing they could do. The credit card was charged premium dollar for two rooms. We showed up the next day to see if there was something they could do since the rooms were paid for and we were not able to make it to the hotel, stuck in the middle of nowhere trying to get help. They were notified of the situation the day before. No help from the management, too bad, so sad. I will not be staying here or any HIE.

Walked into a incredibly inviting room with high-rise beds, four lush pillows stacked on each bed and cleanliness all around. We were again pleased we had made a great switch to Holiday Inn Express - even though I'm a rewards member, it's been a while since I've actually stayed at a facility - my, on my, things have certainly changed, in a very good way, from superior beds and bedding (love the mix of "soft" and "firm" pillows on each bed (we stayed in 2 queens) to the cleanliness of the room to the upgraded refrigerator, microwave, and Keurig coffee - really nice touch. After almost 7 hours on the road, we were ready for a fabulous shower and with this hotel's fabulous shower head, we were not disappointed. We both slept so soundly that when morning came, we were shocked the night was already gone. Then breakfast - scrambled eggs, bacon, cream grave with biscuits plus the best Greek yogurts - both of us were absolutely DELIGHTED!! Suggestion: Upon checking in, front desk should offer two ice cold bottles of water as many of their other locations do!

We stopped here for the night... it was quite late 1AM. The staff were very welcoming. The room was quiet until 9AM for which I was thankful! Breakfast was served until 9:30 and it was adequate though the hot food was a bit “tired” looking. The coffee at these Holiday Inn’s need to be perked up a bit... maybe one weak and one bold? I would stay here again. My husbands disappointment was that the pool was out of order. So you might check on that if you are a swimmer.

We stayed here with a group on our 2ay out to big bend. The place was clean and staff friendly. The bed was great. I think it was a new addition according to the note in the room. Breakfast was great. We will stay again.

We booked our stay through Expedia for this hotel and stated we were traveling with two cats and were told this was a pet friendly hotel. We arrived at 10:20 pm after traveling for 12 hours and when we go to check in I mentioned our two cats that were in a crate and we were then told they do NOT allow cats, the Manager tells my husband that they ONLY allow service animals. He told them our cats were service cats and she told him they only allow service dogs and MINIATURE HORSES!!! Seriously, MINIATURE HORSES but NOT trained felines!!! WTH!!! I think a service miniature horse is going to make a worse mess than a freaking CAT!! Stupidest thing I've EVER heard!!! We will never stay at a Holiday Inn Express!!

  • Feb 21, 2018 by Jeannie L

Thank you Holiday Inn Express for having Delia making her awesome salsa at breakfast. Her salsa was the best we have had since Cozumel Mexico. Not only was her salsa great, but she was personable and kind enough to share her awesome receipe. PS: we saw the ratings for this hotel was lower than expected of an HIX. We were pleasantly surprised to find it had recently been renovated and looked brand new. Great experience!!!

We stopped here on our way back to Houston from AZ. The hotel was easy to get to and not too far off of the freeway. The rooms were very spacious , comfortable, and cozy. The breakfast was really good with lots to choose from. I would go back again.

Not a lot around the area, otherwise we would of thought about staying and additional day, just because the accommodations were very nice. New, clean and comfortable, too bad the weather was too cool to use the outdoor pool, and indoor pool would be a plus. The desk offered up supper suggestions and that was appreciated.

  • Dec 28, 2017 by Marilyn L

Rooms were very nicely done and spacious, Very comfortable beds. Breakfast was made by Delia and did a wonderful job, keeping up with food in a very positive manner. Very friendly. The hotel was sold out and we could see why.

The Holiday Inn at Ft. Stockton was a welcome sight while driving on interstate 10. We had a very nice room that was clean and comfortable. The very polite person who checked us in helped us locate a very good Spott right across the street a nice steakhouse that we enjoyed. I think the name was “K-Bobs” I would recommend the Holiday Inn. It is a bit more up scale but you get what you pay for.

  • Nov 27, 2017 by wolfeellady

The hotel has been revamped and is modern and bright. The rooms are spacious with refrigerator and microwave. The breakfast was extensive with everything possible. The hotel is easy off and on from I-10. It also has a small store with frozen meals and snacks, so no need to go out to get a fast food meal. The staff at the front desk need more training in how to charge items.

Here I am traveling from the keys of Florida driving one of the emergency vehicles back to California. I was tired I have a corporate lodging card and they didn't take it. They said they don't make enough money off of the corporate lodging! Really here we are helping disaster victims and they can't even houses for the night they sent us on down the road shame on them please don't give this place your business go anywhere but here

  • Sep 30, 2017 by K Q.

No hot water for a morning shower is really frustrating when traveling. Poor posting of 30.06 and 30.07 posters to the side of the entry instead of immediately viewable. Dirty carpet in hall way. Noisy air conditioner in room. Expected better for the money and brand.

Traveling home from CO, Ft Stockton was midway for us and were lucky there was a room available for our last minute decision to stop for the night. Room clean and had everything we needed. Breakfast was a large variety of cold and hot items. I like the white egg omelette. The servicing area was large and also area to sat. I personally spoke to Delia to thank her for the preparation and continued monitoring the supply and temperature of the food. Also want to say the staff had a challenge in keeping floors like duty to heavy rain producing mud being tracked in.

In the process of moving to Florida from Arizona this was an unplanned stop. I must say this is by far one of the best hotels I've ever stayed! The staff was wonderful and very helpful! Would definitely stay here again if I had to! Thank you for making mine and my husbands stay comfortable

  • Aug 06, 2017 by remgonz

Hotel is really nice but, elevator went out and we were on the third floor. The tub was slow to drain and there were three of us that needed to get ready to for a party after a long day at the Balmorhea State Park. I know that hotels are the business of making money but, have you ever stopped and thought about compensation the people that actually help you make the money. Instead of just saying "elevator's out" or "okay" say it with maybe a discount on the room. Just saying.....

  • Jul 29, 2017 by Kenneth M.

Everything I said in my previous review is the same except I am restoring the 5th star because the breakfast was vastly improved. I didn't sleep quite as well this time but I don't fault the bed.

  • Jul 19, 2017 by Richard B.

Stopped here on the way back to Florida after visiting AZ. Front staff was pleasant and helpful. Room staff and breakfast room staff were great. Room was clean and there were no surprises.

  • Jul 05, 2017 by wuapinmon

So, yeah, not impressed with the service received at this location because I gave them a chance to make it right and they didn't. Otherwise, it was fine, but a hot room with five people in it isn't good.

  • Jul 04, 2017 by Robert E

Tub had cracks/chips in it. Toilet seat wasn't the correct size. Pool was cloudy, with bugs (outside so they can't control that issue much), no hot tub. Room was warm, with loud wall unit, that felt a bit muggy. Stayed in another west Texas Holiday Inn Express and it had the same feel, like from the outside it looks like a Holiday Inn Express, but the details are missing. They're really not worthy of the brand out here.

When I checked in, the gentleman asked for my credit card and ID. I handed him my credit card and retired military ID card. He handed my military ID back to me and said,"I need to see a real ID. We don't accept that here!" These folks obviously don't support or even like veterans! DO NOT STAY HERE!

  • Jun 06, 2017 by Kyle D

Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and comfortable, close and convenient to town. It is also convenient to Interstate travel, easy on easy off. Staff was helpful with dinner ideas and with things to do in the area.

  • May 29, 2017 by RxDive

Just off I-10 eastbound for $99 a big comfortable room. As with most HIE, the sound of interior doors closing in nearby rooms is a bit bothersome but other than that, a nice stay. Offers breakfast in the am starting at 0600.

  • May 19, 2017 by nanceb4019

This holiday inn is typical of the others I have stayed in. This one is VERY clean with all the typical amenities. It offers the normal breakfast in the morning. The food quality is ok, as the other hotels. The staff was friendly and helpful. We would stay again!

  • Apr 25, 2017 by Lynne Humphries

This is a convenient on/off stopover motel if you are travelling on i-10. Easy going east or west bound. The staff is friendly and it is a reliable Holiday Inn Express. Clean and comfortable. Typical holiday inn express breakfast. Makes it such an easy place to stop on your travels.

  • Mar 30, 2017 by 2Virginians

Our room was surprisingly spacious -- more than adequate. We found it clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly enough, though the lady at the desk did not seem overly familiar with the IHG rewards program. We would be happy to stay again if we were in the Fort Stockton area.

I made a reservation on March 21, 2017 at 9:06 pm via the internet. When I made the reservation, I had a choice of rooms: one was a standard room and the other was a queen suite with 2 beds. I chose the standard room. I received my confirmation e-mail at 9:06 PM. At 9:07, I called the property to see if I could change my mind and switch the standard room for the queen suite. I received no answer. I also received no voice mail. It was like it was answered and then hung up. At 9:15, Alex called me to tell me she was canceling my reservation because she was sold out. I told her she could not cancel my reservation in that I was in Dallas at the airport boarding a plane to Odessa and I had a confirmation e-mail I received with the confirmation number. She told me she had a walk in come in and that she was booked full and there were no rooms available. I told her I obviously made the reservation before she dealt with the walk in because I had the confirmation number. She said it must have been a computer glitch ON MY END and she was sorry but she was canceling my reservation. I told her that was unacceptable that I had a choice between rooms so if she did have a walk in give me the upgrade. She again stated she was booked full and was canceling my reservation. I told her to call a sister property and fix her mistake. She took my member number and my phone number. She said she would call me back. At 9:36 pm, I called her back. Again, I had to call her back. She did NOT call me back. I asked her if she had fixed the issue she created and found me a room. She said no that the sister property was also sold out and that she was going to cancel my reservation and to not show up at the hotel because there would not be a room. ABSOLUTELY, unacceptable. I have not received a confirmation that she cancelled the room. I was left landing in a city with no room anywhere even though I had a confirmation at this property and they authorized my credit card. DO NOT STAY HERE.

This hotel has been recently renovated. Everything was clean and shiny! I have stayed in hotels that cost twice as much, and they are not as nice. The room is HUGE. There are cool blue lights on the outside of the hotel, and the parking lot is still fresh and clean. The art in the rooms looks like something I would put in my house. Sheets are very white and pillows are fluffy. The only negative I had was that there wasn't a cart when I checked in, so I had to bring my stuff by hand. By the time I was at the elevator, a cart appeared. No worries!

  • Mar 17, 2017 by Annette_and_Wes

Although this was not the least expensive option in town, we ended up choosing the Holiday Inn Express to stop on our way through town based on the good reviews online. We had a great experience - the room was clean, checking in late with kids was quick and easy, and the morning breakfast was a good variety that satisfied everyone in the family.

  • Mar 16, 2017 by Jason W

This place was awesome from the lobby and staff to the rooms and beds. This place makes you feel at home. The walls are a little thin but other then this place is a must if going to Fort Stockton. There is a restaurant close by if you don't have a ride.

  • Mar 06, 2017 by Cruisecrazy757

Check in was pleasant & easy. Stayed 1 night. Room nicely appointed with fridge & microwave in room as well as a Keurig. Coffee & tea available in lobby all the time. I think it might be new or remodeled. The tub was very sliperry & needs to add tub mats. Would stay again for sure!

  • Feb 05, 2017 by darrellstravel

Holiday Inn Express Suites very nice hotel very modern just recently built very clean staff is very friendly and check in and check out this morning they have a nice breakfast buffet right across the street is a nice restaurant called K Bobs so Katie. But there's other restaurants in town to try okay

  • Jan 23, 2017 by Ken B.

Do not give this place your credit card! My room had already been paid for prior to my arrival, with Reward points. When I checked in, I was told by the front desk clerk that my credit card would be charged for "incidentals". She charged my credit card $128.82 for "incidentals". I called customer service to complain and I was immediately met with a defensive attitude. She began talking over me, no apology. She just kept trying to justify this transaction. I travel for a living and I know that this is not the norm. I knew I should have stayed at The Marriott. This lame example of their customer service is exactly why I keep asking my company to switch to the Marriott for housing accommodations.

Brand new hotel, so it is squeaky clean, well appointed, nice. I didn't get recognize for my elite status at check in. Well. Not verbally. I got an upgrade. Kudos to hotels that upgrade one night elite stays. You weren't going to sell the room, I'm staying one night, why not make happy loyal customers? Also kudos, noon check-out. So many hotels have been inching that up earlier and earlier. Fitness center is spacious, good cardiovascular equipment. Could use some more weight stuff. New hotel, this may be in the works. Sweet guest laundry, well lit parking lot. Great place to stop. BTW and this has nothing to do with the hotel, if you're stopping, eat before you get here. This hotel is a modern wonder in an otherwise fast food only desert

  • Dec 28, 2016 by Sam F.

Room smelled like raw sewage and cheap perfume. Offered to change rooms but decided to get back on the road instead. Talk about disgusting! Wife stayed here a few years ago without incident, but won't be back again. Night manager said he didn't know why since no one was in this room the night before? But the entire hotel smelled like they were trying to cover up a bad odor. I napped for a few hours but had to get up and out, just couldn't take it any longer. There are plenty of other places here to stay. On the way home I stayed at a competitor's facility and LOVED it. (Ff I & S) They were $5 less, well staffed, extremely clean and even had a small lobby bar.

  • Dec 13, 2016 by SunDiego123

We are fans of Holiday Inn Express and this location did not disappoint. The front desk staff was welcoming and efficient upon arrival. Our room was clean and the beds were comfy. A really pleasant surprise was the Keurig K-cup coffeemaker in the room! The hotel is undergoing a renovation and is absolutely beautiful. The public areas are bright and light. Breakfast was the usual Holiday Inn Express fare... we always enjoy the yummy cinnamon rolls. This location had 3 different kinds of yogurt which was nice. Would give 5 stars except for: no USA Today newspaper :( Only the local small town paper. Also, the internet was down for quite a long time after check in but they did eventually get it up and running by about 8 pm.

We have traveled from Texas to California and back and we always try to stay in a Holiday Inn Express. The rooms are clean and spacious. The breakfast is always good and maintained by the staff.

  • Nov 28, 2016 by NearRadwell

I stayed for several nights at the Holiday Inn Express in Fort Stockton in November. I can't fault the place - friendly staff, clean rooms and a comfortable bed. This is a good location for K BOB'S and Walmart. Breakfast included in the rate. Not a huge selection but I enjoyed what was on offer every morning. The evening we arrived the hotel was completely full. So reservations are recommended. I will definitely be back for another stay at the Holiday Inn.

  • Nov 10, 2016 by Michele K

Have never been to a Holiday Inn that was so bright and open before. It really was a nice change from the usual decor. I loved the fabrics and colors they used, too. My guess is that this hotel isn't very old because of the modern flair. Our room was very spacious and clean. And, as usual, the bed was cozy! I always sleep well at IHG hotels. As for the food, I would love to see scrambled eggs that I've seen offered at other hotels. For some reason, the eggs taste like powdered eggs. Not good at all! I've learned to stick with the cinnamon rolls which never let me down.

  • Nov 06, 2016 by David G

When we arrived at 2:15, the poorly trained front desk clerk chose to emphasize that check-in time was 3 PM. Normally when this happens at an IHG hotel, the staff at least checks to see if a room is available, but not this time. When we stood on my IHG Platinum status and very sore ankle and asked that she at least check, she fell back on again saying 3 PM. It was obvious that the hotel wasn't exactly recovering from a sold-out night before as we did not observe any housekeeping personnel still on duty, so it was obvious we were dealing with bureaucratic obstinacy. Finally, we asked to see her supervisor, and she had to go looking for that individual. The supervisor told her to check room availability. Mirabile dictu, the room we were assigned was ready! The clerk did NOT properly greet me as a Platinum member, and gave me a blank stare when I asked for points instead of the water bottle and snack "amenity". When we got to the room, it reeked of bug spray, and the closet door would not stay closed. By then we had had quite enough of talking to the front desk clerk and suspected no other room would be much better. We will not be back.

Fort Stockton is a good stop on I10. I was able to book a room without calling ahead. Complaints: First room was noisy, refrigerator was loud and the people next door were louder. Compliments: when I asked to switch rooms due to noise, staff found me a new room immediately which was much quieter. Room was clean. Close to I10 intersection and to restaurants.

  • Oct 28, 2016 by Charles L

This is typical great Holiday Inn Express. The only complaint I had was their was only one person at the front desk, sometimes you had to let them know you were at the desk. The staff was friendly! Food was good, liked the omelets.

I spend 150+ nights a year in hotels and my stay here was fine. Staff very cordial and accommodating. Firness Center was well equipped and used it daily. The issues found by other reviewers were not evident during my stay and I would not hesitate staying here again.

The staff was very friendly. The room was very clean and spacious. The breakfast was typical HIE fare. The TV had a good number of channels. It is across the street from a good restaurant ,K Bobs. Easy access to I10.

Stayed here on a road trip from Tucson to Houston. Either is was recently built or renovated. Modern lobby. Clean rooms. Standard Holiday Inn. Breakfast buffet was nice. Glad to see healthier options in the assortment, such is Fage greek yogurt.

  • Aug 31, 2016 by Bill A

I like this hotel hands down one of the best I stayed here last spring while they were renovating and liked what I saw. The project is now done and well worth the slight in convenience. Lighted color accents are a great touch congrats to the owners you hit a home run on this one.

  • Aug 24, 2016 by Pauline S

We were driving from CA to FL for a family reunion and this was our first stop along the way. This chain is always as expected; the rooms are clean and comfortable and the breakfast is better than the others in the same price range. Since this was not a leisurely drive across the country, we didn't use the pool or other amenities. As we were arriving fairly late at night, we needed something easy to find and this is very convenient, just off I-10.

  • Aug 08, 2016 by NearRadwell

I've stayed at this Holiday Inn Express three times and each experience has been very good. Rooms are clean and the lobby staff are friendly. Room rates include breakfast - nothing fancy but it hits the spot. The rooms have under-window AC Units that are noisy if you are not used to them. The hotel includes a small gym and very small pool. Within walking distance of K-Bobs restaurant and Walmart which is a bonus. Overall good value for money. Worth considering if you are travelling across country on I-10

  • Aug 03, 2016 by walkerm029

We stayed on the 3rd floor and there was a mix up with the wifi, called the front and got it worked out right away. Kids were a mess so we didn't go swimming. Always good to know what is coming when its time to have breakfast. For some reason, bananas are always in short supply in this town. This was a good place to stay before we went to Carlsbad Caverns (just 2 hours away)

  • Jul 31, 2016 by crwildwood

Stopped here on our way to San Antonio for a 90th birthday party. The room was clean and spacious. Happy to stay here!! Recommend to all. Lots of oil workers so might be hard to get a room. Recommend calling ahead to get a reservation. Ate chicken fried steak across the street at K Bobs.

  • Jul 26, 2016 by Alison R

This is a very Nice hotel clean very comfortable beds and quiet breakfast is great and also this is a remodeled hotel we will stay here again when we pass thru. Overpriced but they all are small town great hotel for the area recommend this hotel

  • Jul 08, 2016 by jmmcfarlin

This motel is a little pricey, but well worth it. Has everything I like; Room with 2 queens and a pull out couch was still huge, bathroom sink was enclosed in bathroom with toilet and shower, a/c nice and quiet, nice dark and quiet room, very comfortable beds and pillows and good breakfast. I would definitely recommend it.

  • Jul 06, 2016 by Ed K

This is a typical Holiday Inn express, good service, friendly staff, easy access. Room amenities just what we needed, small fridge to keep the water cold. A great place to stop for the night when making the long trek across Texas!

  • Jun 28, 2016 by Madison G.

They do a great job with breakfast...cinnamon rolls, oatmeal, eggs, sausage, cereal, muffins, toast, etc. It was all really good! I thought the room was nice too. Didn't see any issues and was able to get a good price without a prior reservation. Staff seemed really nice too.

  • Jun 15, 2016 by IowaJim2015

Stopped on our way east and enjoyed our brief stay. They were very helpful at the front desk and though they were still working their renovation is looking great. Our room was very nice with comfortable beds and Pillows. First HIX we've stayed at the whole trip that had decent pillows. The room was quiet except at midnight and the room above us was doing a dance or something that we thought was coming through the ceiling. Other than that it was ok. Didn't eat breakfast, HIX needs to upgrade their breakfast. It's really old and stale and not the best quality.

  • Jun 04, 2016 by Marcy C.

Ok this is my 1st hotel review, despite staying in many hotels every year. I thought I'd do it because it deserves to be said. I'm giving it 4 stars because the pool was out of service but the hotel appeared nice and clean-& it smelled good! Traveling from Austin to explore the area: 2 adults, 2 teens, & 1 tween. The room was the perfect size for this many tall skinny people! 2 queen beds and a sofa bed. I should've taken pics before we messed it up. See pics for breakfast area. It was a nice breakfast with all the things I like:) I wish we could get this type of room at very hotels--yes even the 4 or 5 star hotels are sometimes not this spacious! The only this large is the price tag;)

  • Jun 01, 2016 by Kelly B

I stopped here twice on a road trip to Houston and back from Arizona. Easy to locate off the highway, clean decent prices (although higher priced than a Hilton hotel that I stayed at in Houston that was really nice!). The first night I got a great King suite kind of room...really nice, comfy bed, loved the Keurig coffee maker, lots of room. Quiet location. The second time thru, got lesser quality, smaller room with 2 queens, but still equally comfortable. No view, but this isn't one of those kind of places. The free breakfast is great and very much appreciated too!

  • May 31, 2016 by Casey M

Convenient location close to I10. This is perfect for travelers passing through Fort Stockton. There were renovations happening while we stayed here en route to Big Bend. I hope they helped as the hotel was previously very run down. Traveling around 25 weeks a year, I typically stay at IHG hotels and this HI did not live up to the standards. I'm hopeful that the renovations that were happening when we were there have helped.

  • May 23, 2016 by StampinSher P

We've been traveling due to an unexpected family emergency. We've been staying in HI and this one is far the best one! It has been remodeled recently. The staff and breakfast was terrific! The shower is a non-slip tub, the first one we've been in since travel from the west to the east coast. The room is huge, silent and extremely comfortable. Stay here! You will be completely refreshed the next day!

  • May 14, 2016 by vyack

We stopped here on our trip back to San Antonio. The hotel looks great and offers many comforts. We were very tired and didn't want to ride far to eat. The desk clerk recommended a great steak place just across the street. When we came bk to the room we enjoyed very comfortable beds. The rooms were spacious and nicely decorated. I would recommend anytime!

  • Apr 24, 2016 by TexaxGranny

First off the Hotel was under construction last year when we stayed. The inside is finished and beautiful. The elevator was broken last year and is still broken. Sometimes it works sometimes it don't. I'm getting older and have a hard time walking down 3 flights of stairs. It is amazing that the elevator still doesn't work after a year. The breakfast is amazing. well above the normal hotel stuff. It's good and plenty of it. They were so nice and put a full breakfast out for us racers an hour early on race day. The parking is still an issue. we still have to park our trailers in the dirt and mud. Thye hotel is clean and comfortable. it just needs to get that elevator fixed and parking lot paved. we stay every year. We have since it was built. And we will be back every year. But stay on ground floor.

  • Apr 10, 2016 by Melissa B

Despite some mix-ups on our room at check-in, room 106 boasted one of the best tub/shower combinations we've seen in our travels! 3 more rooms are under rennovation to improve accessibility. The hotel lobby appears brand new, is light and airy in color and decor. Very pleased with this choice and highly recommend. Oh, and hotel is right off I-10.

  • Apr 09, 2016 by Clifford K

The hotel was just as expected. I have been in many but this was the first that had a big foot allowed policy. The person in the room above paced for a long time late at night waking me up twice from a sound sleep. The management did something like call I believe when I finally complained.

  • Mar 20, 2016 by Donald H

We stopped for the night without a reservation. What a treat! They provided us a ground floor mini suite. It looked like it was new. It was well-appointed with a king-size comfortable bed, small dining area and bar. I felt like we were in an up scale hotel in a large city. We had a breakfast that was more than adequate with plenty of choices hot or cold. We would stay here again when we came through Fort Stockton.

  • Feb 20, 2016 by Barbara H

When we arrived, stayed 2 nights, the second and third floors were complete and work was continuing on the first floor. In the two days we were there we saw tremendous progress on the first floor so it may no longer be an issue. The sleeping rooms were nice but there was a strange odor probably coming from the carpet. It was all so new so we knew it was clean so we didn't worry about it too much. Staff was nice but it didn't help to hear about their renovation experience.

  • Feb 18, 2016 by Stormy F

We went when renovations were going on. It was crazy and loud. Lots of smells and noise. The staff was really nice so it made the construction not as irritating. Breakfast was really good and fresh every morning.

  • Feb 01, 2016 by Mouse-Bonnie

3 THINGS: 1) SLEEP 2)BREAKFAST 3) SHOWER YES, We got sleep, because I was so tired and didn't even arrive till 3am... But that's it... I had a Wake Up Call for 9am, BUT NEVER GOT IT, SO NO BREAKFAST!!! Then at Noon I got a call saying I had already been checked out??? SO NO SHOWER!!! We are IHG-REWARD SPIRE MEMBERS, AND stay about 200 nights a year on the road.... I got no apology, and no excuse... it was sad and pathetic... I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE EVER.... DEAR MANAGER, IF YOU READ THIS, I DESERVE A REFUND!!!

  • Jan 31, 2016 by Debra J

The hotel was going under a renovation on the first floor. Our room was nice and the staff friendly. We were there during the snow storm the day after Christmas, 2015. The only thing you could use on the main floor was breakfast in the morning.

  • Jan 27, 2016 by kerrpanda

We were returning from a camping trip in Big Bend Ranch State Park when we were surprised by a serious snowstorm. We pulled into this hotel, got the second to last room, and the power went out city-wide. No heat, no restaurants. Two hours later, power was restored to the other side of the city, still leaving us in the dark. Much to every guest's great delight, the hotel owner/manager risked his safety by driving across town and returning with 10 large pizzas and gallons of soda free for all of us starving guests. This man made a great inconvenience into a group party. Thanks.

  • Jan 16, 2016 by atir44

This is a very nice hotel. They were in the process of finishing up the lobby remodeling when we were there. It is going to look great! The breakfast was good even though they had to make do with the renovations going on.

  • Jan 06, 2016 by maxona

In Jan 2016, the main floor of the hotel is under construction, so the fitness center, business center, are not in use at this time. Other than that, the rooms are complete and they did still serve breakfast in the morning. This hotel is not right off of I-10, but not far off of it. Your GPS can help you find this. The Hotel offers the same thing that the other HIE's offer. I asked for a room on the third floor because of the construction and I did not hear a thing. The doors to not slam shut like other hotels, so I did not have to listen to doors slamming late night or early morning. I did hear a light mumbling from my next door neighbors, so it was not completely sound proof. The bed was more on the firm side than soft, but still comfortable. The TV was of good quality with HBO in addition. And being that this hotel seemed newer, they did have more plug outlets and 2 USB ports on the outlet plug at the desk. And an additional plug at the lamp next to the bed if you want to plug your phone in to wake you in the morning. This part of town is not a mecca of fine dining, but there are a few fast food places around. The rooms do have microwaves and refrigerators in the room, as well as coffee makers. I-10 is a long lonely road in Texas and Ft. Stockton is a good stopping point for the evening. This is probably the best hotel option in the area, in my opinion. I don't think there are any good views from any of the windows, but I will give this to this part of Texas... with no Mountains or trees obstructing your view, the colors from the sunset or sunrise are quite spectacular from the hotel.

  • Jan 05, 2016 by Lew F.

We were there in September 2015. There was construction in the place. And it certainly was not worth the $150 it cost. Take a pass on this place

  • Dec 28, 2015 by Steve M

We like staying at Holiday Inn Express and this was no exception. The only drawback was the construction on the main floor. Our room was recently remodeled and refurnished. It was a comfortable king bed. My wife noticed the room didn't have a closet for hanging clothes. Not a problem for us, but could be for some travelers.

  • Dec 21, 2015 by Cherlyn R.

Got in Fort Stockton very late at night and they happened to have two rooms left. Although, they are not yet done with construction it's a very nice hotel. It will be amazing when construction is complete. The service was amazing, the staff was very helpful, and issues were resolved quickly. We did have a complaint against us for noise, which was a legit complaint, and the staff handled it professionally and worked with us to get things resolved even tho we were in the wrong. Super helpful and understanding of our situation. Couldn't ask for more professional people to work with us.

  • Dec 14, 2015 by JMarko-97

Major construction of the lower floor and lobby is ongoing including breakfast area. Floors and walls are unfinished. Dusty environment. The worst is there was no mention of any construction or renovation going on when reserving through their parent web site ihg.com. The staff was apologetic for the inconvenience, but refused to offer any discount off the originally room rate offered at the time of reservation. I found out that this renovation work has been ongoing for more than a year and is nowhere close to being completed. My advise is to stay away from this hotel. Also, note this hotel has no spa or hot tub and no plans to install one. The pool is not heat and is too cool to use this time of year.

While this HIX is under renovation,I still had a excellent overnight sound sleep. The young lady at the front desk in the evening wasn't to welcoming and didn't recognize me as an Spire Elite member. Also not sure if I will recieve my welcome amenity points as I also forgot to mention that to her from being to tired to ask from the long 9hr drive. Also I didn't get a chance to try out the breakfast since it started at 6am and I had to leave at 5am.

This is a really nice hotel, with a large and airy double-queen room. The standards at this hotel chain are consistently high, from the super-comfy beds and pillows, to the little touches, such as folding the small towels into little fan shapes. We stayed in many Holiday Inn Express Hotels and Suites on our month-long trip across the US, and each hotel has been kept to a high standard. Highly Recommended.

Great room, adequate staff at front desk, and good workout room and pool. The breakfast was ok only as the eggs were rubbery and the sausage was just barely warm. Some attention needs to be placed on this part of service. Not enough to drop it out of the very good rating.

  • Sep 19, 2015 by M W

Friendly staff, clean rooms, reasonable prices, holiday inn express is our go-to when we are heading west on vacations! They are presently renovating, so it looks a bit disorderly, but they make up for it with friendly smiles and great service!

  • Sep 18, 2015 by debbie s

Room was nice good parking. Staff was courteous. Stayed one night. As always the beds at HI Exp are the most comfortable. Construction was contained and cleaned up for the day by the time we checked in. Breakfast was good and beat and clean as always.

Nice clean hotel off the beaten path of I-10. This location was perfect for me because I tend to pick those that are not in the direct spotlight. The hotel was under renovation. It was simply beautiful. We had an exceptionally larger suite which was very comfortable. Breakfast had a southwest flair to it which we really enjoyed. When we take I-10 back to California, we will not hesitated to stay here again.

We had just been through a terrible thunderstorm on the way to Fort Stockton when we arrived in hopes of a nice stay at this hotel. But it was anything but that. First it is under construction so half of the first floor was torn apart with junk everywhere. The elevator had a harsh chemical smell to it and the staff at the desk said it was due to renovation. Granted our room (suite) was newly remodeled the smell of paint and new carpet was still fresh and at times overwhelming. The front desk staff was not friendly and the Wolfgang Puck Coffee Kiosk was lacking. The breakfast was a joke and I believe only provided cereal and coffee! At one point I went the hotel and noticed someone had dropped food in the very entrance inside the lobby in FRONT of the front desk attendants and they were to lazy to clean it up! I came back out later and food was still there on the floor so I told one of them if they noticed the food on the floor. She said " Oh okay will take care of that." It was pathetic....

This will most likely be my harshest review ever. Fort Stockton is a dump! A dusty stretch of road along I-10 that screams "run away, run away". Only we did not listen. The hotel is in a middle of a renovation. The place was dusty, the downstairs bathrooms don't work and the breakfast is interesting to say the least. It looked somewhat edible. The staff was clueless and the cost insane. The cost of course is driven by all of the oil filed workers that need a place to stay. Therefore they jack up the price for a dump. I generally like Holiday Inn Express. But not this place. If you are heading west, go a few more hours longer to the waiting arms of El Paso. If you are going east, try to make it anyplace but here. If you find you cannot, then try to avoid the Holiday Inn Express and may the force be with you. Good luck.

Drove from LA to Texas with my husband. The hotel was in the middle of the little town. The hotel was under construction so the elevators were not in service and the whole first floor was closed except for the lobby/food area. Rooms are updated but the bed was clearly not replaced. The bed sucked wish they would have replaced those as well. The receptionist seemed stressed since there was a few of us checking in at the same time. Breakfast of average.

Avg 2 star review is wrong. This is at least 4 stars in every respect. Very good choice for an overnight in Fort Stockton. Excellent checkin, my reservation processed quickly, very nice room, comfortable bed, clean, well appointed, appears recently upgraded. High recommendation for singles, couples and families. Pleasant surprise to totally relax mid-west - Texas. Wonderful stop over headed to Austin. We will definitely stay again on the return trip.

  • Jul 10, 2015 by SDwalkerSOCAL

Recent renovation adds to the friendly staff welcome and clean comfortable rooms. Amazing delight finding this nice accommodations mid-west Texas for a relaxed refreshing over-night. Certainly above the already high expectations of a stay at a Holiday Inn Express. Try the new one minute pancake machine for breakfast. King suite is spacious, comfortable chair/ottoman, work desk, plenty of outlets, sharp bathroom with good supplies and plenty of fluffy towels. Recommended, highly recommended, for single, couple and families. Actually makes a stay in Fort Stockton on the way to Austin a relaxing refreshing recharge. Comfortable bed and pillows. AC works great, and room window slides open for a little fresh air. WiFi is reliable and free.

Since our stay at the Holiday inn at Willcox turned out well, we decided to go here for our stop off in Fort Stockton. The service was okay and the rooms were spacious modern. We stopped here on the fourth of july and there was a faint view of the fireworks at rooney park. The first floor is still under renovation but this is just temporary. We will probably be back on our way home.

Worst experience ever. Caveat - I didn't end up staying at this hotel, but I thought my horrible experience with them in advance was enough to warrant a review. I booked one night stay during a road trip across Texas. When I arrived, it turned out that my reservation had been made for a date two days prior(not sure if it was my error or a problem with the booking system with Trip Advisor, but regardless, it was inputted wrong). I asked if they could help me to transfer the stay to that night. It was late and we had been driving all day and the next closest town was an hour away (not to mention I was 7+ months pregnant). They were completely unhelpful and said the manager wouldn't be in until the next morning, so I had already been charged for the original no-show. They wouldn't transfer it but offered to book me an additional night of hotel with them for something like $150! I immediately got on the phone with corporate to see what they could do (since the front desk staff were clearly not empowered to help). Long story short, I got transferred multiple times, then was told they couldn't do anything since I booked with Trip Advisor. They gave me a Trip Advisor # that led nowhere. The reservation confirmation I had (which, incidentally, was sent to me the day AFTER I supposedly had booked the room) only included numbers for Holiday Inn, so I had no choice but to call their guest relations back and start again. By this point, I went up to try and reserve a room anyway, and just eat the additional cost, and they were then sold out. What?! We went to another hotel and I continued my journey with guest relations until I found a pseudo-helpful agent who said she would put in a request to the hotel property manager for a refund. Yeah right. Of course, I didn't hear for the 48 hours promised, so I called back, and again had to repeat the story. The rep said she would get back to me, and nothing. Warning about dealing with them!

Pricier, but worth it. Receptionist was pleasant and helpful. Room and bathroom was clean and tidy. It came with a mini fridge and microwave, which is always a plus. Complimentary breakfast was as good as it could get for a hotel breakfast. The only downfall: the gym was closed due to renovations. And there are not sidewalks on either side of the road.

  • Jun 04, 2015 by richard b

the hotel has a free spacious car park, check in was good and speedy, receptionist was very pleasant and helpful. even though the hotel was in the middle of a refurb it did not disturb our stay, rooms were very spacious and well appointed. Complimentary breakfast was varied and fresh.

Nice hotel, staff went over and above for us while we were strande for 3 days due to truck trouble. Good breakfast each morning Only problem not near a whole lot of eating places and as we had no transportation We were stuck with only one place to eat. K-- Bobs steakhouse

  • May 26, 2015 by Okie_GW

Facility is currently undergoing renovation. My room was comfortable clean and well maintained. Breakfast both days was excellent. The bathroom in the pool area was out of service due to the renovation work being done. That was just a minor inconvenience, no big deal. The staff were friendly and accomidating.

  • May 12, 2015 by pkgaz

We arrived Sunday evening looking for a place to spend the night. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. They quickly checked us in. Our room was nice and clean and new. The breakfast was very good. An excellent stay. We will be back.

  • May 03, 2015 by ARNtoGO

Staff great and so accommodating. We love Holiday Inn express. The bed is perfect towels thick and soft and love the triple sheet. Breakfast healthy and lots of choices. Also they were remodeling and still kept the standard up. We used to choose Hilton now try to do Holiday Inn.

  • Apr 25, 2015 by Susan B

I was very impressed with the new renovations in the lobby, hallways and rooms. Great decor, vibrant colors and modern fixtures. 1st floor still in progress. Pool seems to be heated to 84 degrees which is a pleasant surprise. Applying for a beer and wine license! Personnel are friendly and helpful!

We have stayed here several times. once before it burned and twice after the repairs. It is still under construction so there's issues. One is you can't use the stairways because they are being repaired I guess, don't really know why. It scares me when I'm trapped on high floors and trying to figure out how I will get out if need be. Also we are here for the Big Bend Road race and this parking lot no longer holds all our racecar trailers. They have remodeled the parking lot and put in planters and curbs that stop people from parking a trailer or big rig. The place that you are suppose to use for big rig parking is full of railroad cars they are using for the construction. so we won't be staying here for the road race anymore unless the lot gets cleared.

  • Apr 23, 2015 by Stoeck

My husband & I stayed here on our way to Big Bend National Park, and your choice of places to stay in Fort Stockton is quite limited. Like other reviewers, we thought the hotel was overpriced. It has been newly renovated which is a plus. We found the staff to be very helpful & friendly.

  • Apr 19, 2015 by Karin P.

Even with construction going on, we were extremely satisfied with our stay. The front desk person was very kind and informative, the room was clean and comfortable, the water pressure in the shower was nice, and the breakfast selection was very good (and tasty). The pool was quite enjoyable; they have plenty of chairs, towels, and chaise lounges. There are tables and umbrellas, and even two bbq/smokers (though they were not in action). The maintenance guy told us when asked what there is to see in Fort Stockton (there actually is quite a bit) and was very nice. We would definitely stay here again. (The remodeling did not affect us at all.)

We stayed at this hotel one night when driving from Phoenix to houston. Very expensive. Very comfortable bed and pillows. Good breakfast. The hotel was full. It is right in the middle of Texas oil patch. There are not many options out there in this area. Make sure you book well in advance.

  • Mar 14, 2015 by Travis B.

Not too happy with this place TV remote didn't work. This resulted in a 30 minute visit from maintenance rather than a new room Wasn't to happy with the staff. They weren't mean... Just not overly nice. Kinda felt like they were talking down to me They dont have a hot tub.. Just an outdoor pool Toilet ran the whole time... Super annoying Pros- Internet was good Room was clean

  • Feb 05, 2015 by Capn Al S

HI asked me my opinion and I told them to close it down until all the renovations are completed. Packed with oil company worker bees - the rugs stink. Breakfast is ok if you like texmex. Renovations are not complete on 2nd or 3rd floors and they've applied for a liquor license.

  • Jan 27, 2015 by Paul R

We recently stayed at the Holiday Inn express Fort Stockton and were not very impressed. No coffee in the morning for breakfast Phones did not work in our room and had to move Gravel in parking lot from construction Gravel tracked into hotel and onto floors And onto upper floors where there were new carpets Even elevator walls were dirty from someone rubbing a dirty muddy hand on the walls Do not stay here at this hotel. They wanted $137 per night for a room and did not even give us a discount because of the issues we identified. Even worse was the attitude of the front desk clerk in the morning. He actually smirked when I complained to him. Told me there was coffee in my room and there was nothing he could do about it. The manager was not in and that there were no coffee filters to make coffee with. Nothing he could do about it. With this attitude, even though they are spending a lot of money upgrading the hotel, it will deteriorate very quickly and all of the investment will be for nothing.

Stayed here on my way back to the East coast for the holidays. I won't go into a long winded review as I have posted MANY pics of the disgusting conditions. Changed rooms and it wasn't much better. Complained to the manager on duty as I was leaving the next morning and she comped the entire bill. Should have stayed next door at the Motel 6. (SEE PICS)

  • Jan 08, 2015 by Thu N.

1/2 way done with their renovation as of July 2015. Nice clean bathroom, bright light in the hallways, comfy bed. Couldn't ask for a better stay out in the middle of no where. It does the job for a work trip.

  • Jan 07, 2015 by Grantdavis07

I stayed Monday night and the rate was $146. I checked in Tuesday night and the guy at the front desk said the cheapest rate they had was $170. I am a Platinum Elite member and this is a big increase for a Tuesday. Later, I was walking out and he told another person $138. There was a dirty bar of soap in my room and a used shampoo. If you go to Fort Stockton, stay at the Comfort Inn.

  • Jan 05, 2015 by Granada100

This Holiday Inn is located a fair distance from the freeway so road noise is minimal. The whole area appears to be under development so it is a little messy but no-one stays here for the view! Being fairly remote and a perfect overnight stop for travelers going to Big Bend National park the price is high for what you get staying anywhere in the area. The refurbished rooms are nicely redecorated with coffee machine, fridge and microwave. There is a good selection for the free breakfast and free WiFi Internet in the room. Restaurant choice in the area is limited but there is a reasonable steakhouse opposite the hotel within easy walking distance.

  • Dec 21, 2014 by sascanlan

We loved staying here in 2011. We stay in a lot of Holiday Inn Expresses, which we find very good and consistent. This hotel has big rooms, a large common area and is nicely decorated. I ignored some bad TA reviews and booked it anyway. We are very disappointed. They have renovated the Third floor and are doing the Second floor now. There is noise during the afternoons. Our room, 312, is poorly laid out for all of the space and their are some weird things like an outlet on a wall light, which is above nothing. The TV is too small for the large room and very cheap. Our carpet is stained, though it's new. Bathroom is nice and so are the amenities. Bedding is also good. The room is clean but the property needs more attention. The landscaping has been ignored and looks awful. The staff is very nice and helpful. We would not stay here again. Bad management.

  • Dec 09, 2014 by Gary C

Largest Holiday Inn Express room I've ever been in. You could hold a family reunion in it. Enormous bathroom. I know that everything is bigger in Texas, but this room is more spacious than my first apartment! Very comfortable, however with the huge space it could have used a few more floor lamps or wall lights or something. Wonderful breakfast selection including edible egg omelets which is highly unusual. Not the least expensive hotel/motel in Ft Stockton, but worth the extra $$. I read the review of this establishment submitted by "Austin Texas_12" and concluded that we must have stayed in rooms post (me) and pre (him/her) 'renovation.' This Holiday Inn Express is undergoing renovations, so be sure to get a 'post-renovation' room!

  • Dec 08, 2014 by TravlingAZGirl

This is a great place to stay for a quick sleep over when traveling on I-10. It's clean, has great internet, good food, etc. The only complaint I have is that it's not cheap...so I'd say that for the price, you could find better by looking around further into town.

  • Dec 01, 2014 by AustinTexas_12

First of all, I should have read TripAdvisor reviews before booking this Hotel. I stayed at Holiday Inn Express in Fort Stockton (Dickinson Rd) during Thanksgiving 2014. Outside the Hotel looks OK which is little deceiving until you enter inside the Hotel. Everything is old, smells. Even the dark hallway carpets shows stains. Only one dingy/old elevator and the elevator floor was ripped up and the panels were coming off. The hallway carpet seems undulating (not a smooth surface). The room was not good as the bathroom toilet seat was sliding off, the room was dark, the sofa-bed left a back pain (no linens were there until I asked for it). The refrigerator was not cold enough and the microwave was "very small". The breakfast selections were ok except that they were not very tasty and seems are not kept in proper temperature (Yogurt was watery). The front desk person was not helpful or smiling or greeting. I asked for a direction to a local spot and she just said she doesn't know (she was doing something on the computer and didn't even try to find the answer and ask someone else to help the customer! I have never stayed in a Holiday Inn that is so bad. Compared to the price, I would not recommend this Hotel.

  • Nov 15, 2014 by hardinger

A renovation IS needed, and apparently they are working on it, but the price! Give people a discount until you are ready to charge 150 for a room in...wait for it!...Fort Stockton. Only reason to stay in this town is if your car caught fire close to here....

  • Sep 05, 2014 by Sally J

This hotel was not the best I have ever stayed in as a Holiday Inn Express. We had a plane room. Microwave, small Frig and a King bed. It was ok. The capets needed cleaning. It just wasn't clean around the edges, if you know what I mean. I probably would stay somewhere else next time . My door was really hard to push open and to close. I always had to make sure it latched when I left. I used my points and it was convenient to stay for one night. WE did not use the pool.. Breakfast was just ok. Not the best we have ever had at a Holiday Inn Express.. Easy check in.. Cookies waiting when we arrived.

  • Sep 03, 2014 by Patrick W.

We spent one night in September, 2014. Pro's - Staff were pleasant at arrival. Room was large and clean. Water was good and not too soft. Access to hotel was easy. WiFi was fine....we were able to stream audio and video with no hesitation or interruption. Billing and rapid checkout was straightforward. Luggage carts were sturdy. Con's - Rate is extremely high for hotel of this level. Gym equipment was well worn. There are not enough outlets at the desk to support charging two cell phones, an iPad, blue tooth speaker and a laptop....not an unusual number of low wattage accessories for today's travelers. Room A/C kept one side of the room frigid while the other side was warm. We had to pull the plug on the refrigerator....it was too loud to sleep! Summary - If you have to stop in Fort Stockton, you'll pay a high price for an average experience at this hotel. Rating - C+

  • Aug 22, 2014 by Christiana S.

OK. There are some decent things about this hotel, but not anywhere that counts. First off, they have done a total remodel in all the rooms (so they say), and the pool is still out of commission (2 months after the other reviewer mentioned it). The rates are high because they can be. Lots of us business travelers headed to the gas plants and oil fields out here, and there aren't a lot of hotel options. Three of us stayed here and all in separate rooms. All three of us agreed that, despite the lack of a lot of options, we will never stay here again. I could hear EVERYTHING. The rooms next door (and above) and the hallway. I could hear, word for word, the conversations in the room next to me, and this included their TVs and snoring throughout the night. The bed was only ever so slightly more comfortable than the floor. I so wish I was exaggerating here, because it sounds like an exaggeration type of comment, but I'm not :( The A/C will run the same no matter what you set it at. It doesn't matter the temperature, it runs the same. The compressor kicks on about every 15 minutes, and it is so loud it will wake you up each time (I even took sleeping pills that knock me out). You can run the compressor (as a fan for noise), but it will not run at the same time as the A/C, so you have to make a choice (REALLY!?!?!). I confirmed twice with staff that these are the NEW units. The room looked clean on the surface, but if you paid attention to corners and such, it was FILTHY. There was mold on the wall by the shower. A big no-no in hotels. The water pressure was decent but not great. Just a weird thing for me, but the bar soap they provide smelled like sewage. At first I thought it was the sink water, but I realized it couldn't be because the shower was fine. I traced it to the soap - and then started using my own that I bought. Every time we complained about the A/C or anything else we received extremely non-caring responses. The staff just didn't give a sh**, and you could tell. They weren't rude, just didn't care at all. The internet was the slowest I have ever experienced in a hotel. Again, sounds like an exaggerating statement, and again I wish I was exaggerating. Sigh.

First, I hate leaving 1 star reviews. It bugs me because I'm sure the people running this hotel are good decent people. So for that I am very sorry. It's just business. We arrived at 1130 pm and booked online using reward points so we didn't pay, and it's a darn good thing because this place was dirty. The room charges would have been $173. They jack up the room prices because of all the Halliburton and other oil and fracking workers. So don't go expecting a $89 a night standard rate. Also, I'm pretty sure this is run by a family that lives in the hotel. Not sure what to think about that and I could be wrong. The hotel looks nice and new on the outside so it is strange that the insides so different. Pros: We were exhausted and they had a room. The bed was comfy. There is a pretty display of glassware in the lobby. The orange juice was good. Cons: they really hurt tired travelers by jacking up the rates due to oil workers, black curly hairs in the tub, ripped curtains, hotel smelled of Indian food and sour socks, the furniture had a layer of dust on it, we had to tiptoe because normal steps sounded like elephants were dancing in our room so I think there's not much insulation or something. The inside looks like the Space Mountain version of a hotel rooms. The cream cheese had gone bad, the banana muffin tasted weird. Final thought: if you get too tired to drive just stop. It's a bed. But don't expect it to be a nice place. There's a Holiday Inn Express about 75 miles down the road in Ozona that has 4 star reviews but is about the same price.

Was just passing through to get to San Antonio, was tired and looking for a place to stay usually stay at Hilton's but there was none and everything in the area was sold out. Went to this property and they had a suite available, young lady at the front desk was so nice and helpful really made us feel welcomed. Rooms were huge with plenty of room for my party of four, good breakfast to start our day.

  • Aug 11, 2014 by ALR-62

Before you book ask if the renovations are complete. We were not warned so dealt with a non-working TV, gaps in the elevator floor planking, stained carpets, holes and scratched up walls in room, etc. LOTS of potential once completed but overpriced at this stage

  • Aug 09, 2014 by xbioman

Stayed here one night during a drive. We had a "suite" which was nothing more than a larger room. Breakfast was included, but the selection was poor so we passed. Quiet enough, fine for a stopover. A bit pricey since we were looking for a 1 bedroom and it ended up being just a large 2 bed. WiFi reception was very poor.

  • Aug 03, 2014 by Realtru

We were just passing through on our way home, this hotel is way overpriced, rooms needed updating, mold stains on walls and ceiling, they had signs posted they were remodeling, but we didn't see it, plus the rate should reflect current conditions of the property, not what it will be, ft stockton has better choices, I stayed here expecting to use points for a free stay, but my rewards account was not able to be accessed by the hotel, of course, and they couldn't help with that, after doing a 12 night roadtrip staying at all holidays inns, across the sw American states, I am not impressed with their chain at all, Hampton inn or la Quinta is a better choice

  • Jul 05, 2014 by barc2003

This property has huge rooms, nice parking and clean. It is a little isolated and because of this the rate seems a tad high. Walls are kind of thin so that we could hear the children in the room next door clearly. Comfy place.

  • Jul 02, 2014 by Diana C

We had a two queen room and it was huge! We were very surprised. Travelling with three teenage boys so the extra room was great. The room was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the free breakfast was great. They had many breakfast items including a waffle maker. The staff was very pleasant too. I would definitely stay here again.

  • Jun 01, 2014 by Jose F

Clean, Wide hallways. Room is huge. Looks new but is actually about 4 yrs. old. Def would stay here again. Got a room on the third floor, got living area, two queen beds, little kitchen area. Very clean & modern. Place filled up quick with travelers.

  • May 08, 2014 by Joe G.

Just stayed here. Was very clean. In great repair. Bed very comfortable for old arthritic joints and back. Quiet. Staff helpful and positive. Would come back.

  • May 02, 2014 by jeff jansen

Should have read previous reviews. This place is deceiving because it's clean and has an inviting decor. Once your settled in the room you soon realize they forgot to insulate anything and you can hear conversations through the walls and ceilings. Had to keep the bathroom door closed during our stay to avoid listening to a loud constant humming noise all night. When discussing these issues with the staff nobody was surprised and stated they heard these complaints every day. Travel between NM and Austin TX and will look for a new place to stay. The staff was friendly and helpful and made me feel sorry that all they can do is keep apologizing. In the mean time a good brand is being demolished by crappy construction.

  • May 02, 2014 by Parto

Much needed stop between San Antonio and El Paso. This bed was the comfyest of all our stays during 3 weeks in the USA. Nice modern hotel, friendly staff. Clean rooms and decent breakfast. Quiet location.

  • May 01, 2014 by JonArnold-Deb

We were trying to stay in Pecos, but because of the oil boom it was out of the question. The property the room was nice and clean. It is hard to find parking because the lot is full of oil field workers pickups and big trucks. The main issue was a mistake of the clerk, she pre-authorized $159.12 on my credit card for a free rewards nights room. It sounded like elephants were walking on the floors above us, I think this had to do with shortcuts in construction, but after 11 pm it died out, but started again at 5 am when the oil field workers prepared for the day. The breakfast was HIE fare, but was fresh and hot so that was good. In the morning the desk clerk fixed the issue the charge for the free rewards nights. Wasn't the worst stay and wasn't the best, so it all worked out toward an average stay.

It's sometimes hard to get a room in Fort Stockton, but I've been fortunate the last few times I was going through there to get a room at this property. The rooms are nice and clean, the staff is friendly and the hot breakfast is good and well attended. There is a nice steak house right across the street.

  • Mar 17, 2014 by Jennifer P.

This was the worst Holiday Inn we ever stayed in. The walls were so thin that we could hear the neighbors TV & conversations word per word.

  • Feb 24, 2014 by DDCK

After reading reviews I was hesitant to stay here but for the price, it can't be beat. The oilfield is booming and everywhere else they want an arm and a leg. The front desk clerk was very helpful and friendly, she also informed me that the hotel was under renovations and apologized for any inconvenience. The rooms were clean and breakfast was fresh, can't ask for much more. I am sure that after the renovations the hotel will be even better. I will definitely stay again.

  • Feb 18, 2014 by Melissa W.

Very dirty! Corporate really needs to put money into remodeling and upgrading many things about this location. It wasn't all bad - but there was a HORRIBLE smell in our room...and the hallway to the third floor smelled of musk and was very dark and uninviting. The beds were pretty comfortable, though. Decent nights rest, which was great. Shower curtain needs replacing (mold growing). We went downstairs for breakfast at 915am, but everything had been cleaned up. We had to ask for breakfast. For $165 a night, total - it's not worth it. The concierge was very nice when we checked in after midnight, as well as when we checked out around 10am.

Out in West Texas, the choices are limited. So when you take your chances and it's a pleasant surprise, it's well worth the stop. Recently updated, spacious, comfortable room. Away from freeway and off the road a bit, so it was quiet. Bed very comfortable with choice of pillows. Automated wake up call request, backed up by call to the front desk, both failed. Checked with front desk on departure, she noted it had been annotated, but couldn't explain why we weren't called. Breakfast was mediocre, weak coffee, pre-made [read frozen] omelets were dry, could have used some salsa.

I booked this hotel less than 24 hours ahead of time due to some last minute changes in my plans. The reviews were mixed, but I've rarely been let down by Holiday Inn Express so I went ahead. Hotel was extremely busy, but my room was relatively quiet. Hotel room was spacious, with a large comfy chair/ottoman, micro/fridge, work desk, etc. Bed (and bedding) was also good. Location was also good - not too close to the interstate to cause noise issues, but easy to reach when exiting the interstate. Very close to a Super Wal-Mart, so replenishing our road trip supplies was a breeze. Plenty of restaurant options near the hotel - though ended up at Pizza Hut (also busy, but good). Parking was very good, especally considering that the front desk staff told me that the property was sold out. Breakfast area was crowded, but staff kept the food hot and tasty. All in all - a good stay!

Like the other reviews say, this hotel is almost perfectly located at the halfway point between Houston, Texas and Tucson, Arizona. I booked a room for the Friday after Christmas for a trip to see family, and another one for the trip back home the following Friday. We booked a suite since we needed the sofa bed. We arrived late in the evening and were checked in promptly by a friendly clerk. Our room was clean, neatly decorated, and comfortable. We called the desk to ask for a restaurant recommendation and were provided with the KBobs right across the street from the hotel. It was very good food. About the only complaint I had about the stay was the sofa bed; it was about like sleeping on a sheet afixed to a chain link fence and nobody slept on it the first stay. The walls were a bit thin and you could hear the TV in the adjacent room. If the TVs were placed in cabinets, it would most likely solve that problem. In the morning, breakfast was served and it was mostly great. The only complaint was watery eggs, but the pancake maker and sausage made up for this. Checkout was easy and we were on the road to Tucson. Arriving back on the next Friday, the experience was pretty much the same. We were provided the same room we stayed in before and it was clean and comfortable. My son slept on the chain link fence and said it was very comfortable, so if you have a kid weighing under 100, it would probably suit them just fine. Overall, I was very satisfied with our stay here, and will stay here again the next time we pass that way.

This Hotel Is Conveniently Located Almost Half Way Between El Paso And San Antonio, Texas On Interstate 10. We Drove The First Time From Sierra Vista, Arizona To Fort Stockton, Texas. We Hit A Very Bad Ice And Snow Storm South Of El Paso And This Hotel Was Our Oasis In The West Texas Bad Winter Weather. The Breakfast Was Hot And Great. There Was Plenty Of Parking (Even Though The Hotel Was Full Due To The Snow/Ice Storm). Our Room Was Spacious, Comfortable, And Well Situated. Our Beds Were Very Comfortable And The Room Was Well Furnished. Our Bathroom Was Spacious, Well Furnished, And Enjoyable. There Was Free Internet Throughout The Facility And Free Use Of A Couple Of Computer Terminals In The Business Center For Guest Use. On Our Way Back From Brownsville, Texas, We Stayed At This Hotel Again. We Had The Same Positive Results, And I Forgot To Mention That The Hotel Staff Were Very Nice And Accommodating Both Times. We Would And Will Stay Here Again When Traveling Through To Visit Family And Friends.

Location: Great as it is right off I-10 east, but there are limited restaurant options nearby. Price: Expensive, even Military Rate was much higher than average. Front Desk: Quick check-in, front desk clerk could have smiled at least once, but did not. General Appearance: Modern look and feel, from lobby to the elevator, to the rooms. Room: Modern, but lacking a thorough cleaning (Dust, hard water stains, and lack of general shine). King size bed was comfortable, but super thin walls between rooms allowed us to hear very clearly our neighbors conversation and snoring! Bathroom: Previous person's soap was still in the shower, quite gross....enough said! Overall: For the price and Hotel Brand, not impressed and think the location allows this hotel to overlook some of the finer details of a nights stay and the ability to charge the higher rate.

I favor Holiday Inns, but this is the exception. The receptionist stated they do not help Priceline Customers. We were given a King bed and needed two queens. Admittedly, they had many other rooms available but their policy is to not help Customers that do not book through them. The TV volume did not work on our tv, and they had us wait for a TV repair man to come fix it. Also, my phone in the room didn't work. So, I walked downstairs to notify them of the tv issue. They had a sign to wait for them to come back. 10 minutes later and 4 other customers waiting with other issues...she explains she can't help because the manager has specific policies in place. And, he is not on site. Priceline got involved and immediately made a phone call on our behalf. However, the manager was not available to help. And the girls on duty apparently do not have any authority regardless of how many things are wrong. The other customers that needed help were not Priceline customers. They were not helped any more than us. I would not recommend this place due to their lack of customer service. I hope priceline and Hotwire discontinue their contracts due to the hotel's attitude.

The lady that checked us in was very accommodating and willing to help with all our needs. There were three of us and had made reservations for a suite. I was a General Manager of a different hotel chain for many years. I am now a pipeline surveyor and look at hotels in a different light. The hotel was very clean. The swimming pool was being remodeled which we really didn't care about, we were there to work. The suite was very roomy and comfortable for three grown men. We had two queen beds and a couch that folded out into a bed. We were impressed. The breakfast on the other hand was, don't get me wrong, very good...... BUT, the breakfast lady was unaccommodating. She was more into watching the Amity Horror on the breakfast room television then paying attention to her job. 1st- I thought it to be very strange that the lobby tv had the Amity Horror on it instead of the news. 2nd- We were only down there for about a 1/2 hour. in that time, the coffee ran out several times. 3rd- The pancake mix machine was empty and I had to ask for it to be filled. I had to ask the front desk because the lady had disappeared. She never smiled once at anyone and to be truthful, a Good Morning from the breakfast lady should be a priority. She is normally the first person a guest sees when they come out of their room in the morning.

Stayed one night with my husband and two kids. Very nice and clean and the customer service was excellent. They were very friendly and attentive. Will definitely stay again if passing through. Great Value without spending a fortune.

  • Nov 14, 2013 by Chuck P.

Do not stay here unless they get new management or a total remodel. The night clerk looked like he was a homeless person, the floor in the elevator was broken and splitting (it was laminate) the room was clean, but we had no hot water in the morning for showers... Normally we like Holiday Inn Express... But avoid this one ... And the eggs were freezing at 6:30 am

My husband and I, spent the last three nights at the HIE and found everything very nice. The bed was comfortable and the room was very nicely decorated. Alex, was our housekeeper, and she was very efficient and friendly. She was able to answer all of the questions we had, concerning the fort, springs and other area attractions. The front desk clerk always spoke when we were going out for the day or returning to our room. Thankfully, the employees did NOT smoke like chimneys at the front door, like we have encountered at other HIE's. We enjoyed our stay and hope we can return soon. Our appreciation to the staff!

  • Nov 01, 2013 by Connie B

My assistand and I were on the return part of a trip to El Paso and had to stop at Ft. Stockton because neither of us could drive any further. It was 2 a.m. and I was happy that we were able to find two rooms at a decent rate (119.99) That was the last of the pleasantness. The desk clerk was a young man (wearing a black knit cap, not very professional) who struggled to complete our transaction. As a school employee, I presented him our state tax exempt form and let him know I would be paying cash. Again, he seemed to not know what to do. He told me he would need a credit card to hold for incidentals, which I provided. After about 15 minutes he finally gave us our room keys. The room itself was okay, if not a little worn. The next morning at 7:30 (a mere 5 hours after I had checked in) I went to check out. A quick check out bill had been placed under my door. When I looked at it I noticed that he had charged me state tax (from which we are exempt, for which I had given him the form). After much confusion he refunded me $14.40. When I asked for an itemized bill he said they did not do that. That was my mistake. Two hours down the road I get a call from my husband that our checking out had $542.36 deducted from it by Holiday Inn Express in Ft. Stockton. I immediately called the hotel to see what was going on. Not only had the clerk failed to note that I had paid cash the night before, he proceeded to charge me TWICE for the two rooms. Yes, that five hour nap was costing me $800. I spoke to a young woman who assured me they were working on it. My cash payment was found in the safe, yet I have still not be refunded my $542.36!! It has now been a week!!! Frustrated, disappointed, angry, defrauded all describe my experience. Stay away, stay away, stay away!!!

This hotel is only bout 3 yrs old. Beds are comfy and the front desk person was great. BUT, the noise is horrible. I could hear everything the man was saying on the phone in next room. The person above me was stomping across the floor until midnight; doors in the hall were slamming very loudly all night; carpet stains in hall were nasty (2nd floor); the silicone caulking in tub was black with mold...when I rubbed it with a rag I got dirt and mold off and with barely touching it the caulking came off. Then, made myself coffee in the room with water from faucet and within 15 minutes I had stomach problems....great when you are traveling! Was fine before and haven't had anything else!

Coming to LA from Austin and this was our first time staying here. VERY small town, but lots of hotels. THis place was very clean surprisingly since most of the blue collar guys staying there looked pretty rough. Breakfast was tasty and ample. beds and rooms were very comfortable and clean. Check in was a breeze and check out even easier. Great place to stay overall!

  • Oct 10, 2013 by Karl V

We stopped by on a cross country trip. The property was the usual Holiday Inn Express, but looked in need of refreshing and updating. There were cigarette butts on the entrance side walk (granted the parking lot was under a re-built but management should have seen to the entrance cleanliness). Our room had evidence of a hasty and poorly freshened room. The pool was dirty and out of service. The breakfast was only so-so and the eating area was very small. For the value, we felt the price was high for the area.

  • Sep 29, 2013 by Sallylb38

It has been several years since I had the occasion to need a place to stay in Ft Stockton TX. This boom town now has several choices and the Holiday Inn Express didn't disappoint. Check in was very quick and easy. Our room was well appointed with plenty of towels, comfortable beds and very clean. If you are traveling Highway 10 through west Texas, you will find a welcome rest here.

  • Sep 23, 2013 by A D.

The hotel is ok. Carpet needs to be replaced. The rooms are large and in typical holiday inn fashion. Comfy bed. The bathroom was clean although the counter underneath was full of water stains so the completely skip that when cleaning. Shower head could use a vinegar bath, but overall ok for a nights rest. Expensive. $129

My boyfriend and I, was not impressed by this place at all. Beyond ugly appearance, and man at the desk gave us bad directions to our room. Location was horrible. This was not worth the price we paid to stay there. Never again will we stay at this location.

We staid twice, once on the way to San Antonio and once on the way back. The pool was frigid when we arrived in the evening on the first stay, and the kids couldn’t stay in very long because their lips were turning blue. It was getting dark thankfully and we were unaware of the pool’s condition (the light was burned out fortunately). On the way back we arrived earlier in the day. The kids jumped into the pool as I looked to see the bottom of the pool filled with debris. The water was still cold, and there was a clear sticky film on the top of the water. We pulled the kids out immediately. The light was not only burned out…it was literally out of the pool wall with the electrical cable extending from the wall, through the water, to the light fixture which was sitting next to the pool. It was not only gross but also upsetting since there is very little to do on that road trip, and book hotels with pools so the kids have something fun to do. We informed the front desk but nothing happened. The manager left for the day in his big shining 4x4, wearing designer clothes, and pulling a matching travel bag. I’m glad he’s profiting from a lack luster establishment so at least someone is happy. Very disappointing from a Holiday Inn. Clearly a management problem.

Was driving from Phoenix to San Antonio and needed a rest. Just off the freeway was the Holiday Inn Express. We've stayed at Holiday Inn Expresses before and always had a good exprience. Based on the building and furniture the hotel is pretty new so everything is in great shape. The breakfast buffet was pretty standard. However, the egg omlets and the sausage gravy was excellent. I would stay here again if we're in the area.

Booked a Priority (now IHG) points stay and were certainly not disappointed in our stay. A very well run, well maintained property. Nice and quiet, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was great and consistent with other similar hotels. Staff was extremely friendly - the Texas Way!

  • Jul 23, 2013 by K C

As a business traveler I have stayed in many bad hotels, this was one of the worst. At check in the woman behind the desk was trying to juggle 4 or 5 phonecalls and kept us waiting 10 minutes. This entire time the manager was standing talking to a friend leaning against the wall. Once we did get checked in the rooms were dirty, there were stains on the carpets (large ones), and like other reviews stated the walls are paper thin. In the morning the key to the fitness center wouldnt work and when I finally found an employee to open it all of the machines were broken. Would not want to stay here again.

  • Jul 20, 2013 by ScrappyTexan

We had a "guaranteed" a king handicapped room with a roll-in shower. It was not honored. The hotel was oversold, which is apparently common in the summer. We were given a two queen room without roll-in shower and were comped the room. They did what they could to make it right. The point is - if you're guaranteed a room and the hotel does not honor it, it's not really guaranteed, is it? Otherwise, the hotel is adequate, not exceptional.

  • Jul 18, 2013 by Dave W

The rooms are very large, hotel is clean. Staff was friendly and check in fast. Very good for families. Will stay at this location if in area again. Plenty of restaurants close to this location for evening meal. The breakfast served at hotel is good.

  • Jul 14, 2013 by BigTxDaddy

We stayed here traveling from New Mexico to San Antonio. The hotel was clean and fairly quiet with the usual HIE beds and pillows. We had the usual breakfast--powdered eggs, bacon, assorted pastries and cereal. Pancakes were also available. We didn't use the pool or fitness area.

  • Jul 08, 2013 by Andriettes

We stopped here in mid January 2013 on our way across country with a 6 month old baby, two cars, and a ton of stuff on a military move. Needless to say we were exhausted when we finally pulled in late in the evening, but the hotel staff was incredibly friendly and made sure to get us into a room that had space for our "pack 'n play" for the baby to sleep in. The room was spotless, warm (compared to the 19 degrees outside), and the bed was comfortable. We were happy with our stay and when we eventually move back across country again, we will be sure to stay there again,

  • Jul 04, 2013 by Zachary C.

Nice hotel. The staff was very friendly. Everything was clean and comfortable. The only problem was that it sounded like construction was happening at 2 am. It couldn't have been "fraternization" because the same sound could be heard during breakfast. Also kind of expensive for the middle of nowhere.

  • Jul 02, 2013 by faye1630

Good location, nice beds, rooms are clean. We liked the breakfast. Staff was friendly. There was no microwave or refrigerator and we did not have enough towels. You can hear the TV and people talking in the rooms next to you. The prices for the rooms are way to high.

  • Jun 19, 2013 by Caroline W

Just passing through and booked the Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites at Fort Stockton, TX. Clearly they are catering to a passing through crowd. Hotel room clean with skimpy towels. Asked for a shower cap and they did not have any. Asked for a stopper for the bathtub and they had to find one. Very few television stations. Free breakfast is not enjoyable, processed muffins, creepy pancakes from a machine, but if you want cereal and toast, you are set. Rates a little pricy for location. Capitalizing on the drive through traffic. Not a destination location for sure.

  • Jun 19, 2013 by Zoe Z

We booked through a discounted travel site. We got into the hotel. It is a newer hotel. Nice room- quiet. Did not have refrigerator or microwave. Did have outdoor pool which was freezing. They did have a work out room. Service staff was friendly. Easy access to highway and local restaurants. Comfortable bed. Complimentary continental breakfast in the morning.

  • May 31, 2013 by Bruce E.

Its a Holiday Inn, but I'm not feeling any smarter! The hotel is fairly new so its got that going for it. We got into the room and noticed the bathroom door did not have a doorknob. Yep. Just a hole in the door where a handle should be. We shrugged it off and decided to go to the pool after a long hot day on the road. The pool was very murky and you could see dirt on the steps, so we didn't dare go in. And the pool bathroom was, well, just gross. So plan B, take a shower. The shelf in the shower where you are supposed to place your soap and shampoo had apparently not been cleaned since the hotel was built and was literally caked with soap scum. I could laugh all this off if this was a low budget motel, but HIE is supposed to be a "better" hotel. We were charged $126 and that was with a AAA discount. For this quality we could have stayed across the street at a "budget" motel for less than half what HIE charged. Disappointed that HIE doesn't monitor quality. Most of our stays with the chain have been very good, making this experience all the more upsetting.

  • May 29, 2013 by James S

We have stayed at this hotel on several occasions and have always found it to be a good place to stay. The rooms are clean, the front desk staff is friendly and helpful and the breakfast is always good. The only negative are the rates. Even the government/military and senior rates are high, but in line with other mid-priced hotels in the area.

  • May 25, 2013 by Tule G

We had discount rates because of points but would never pay $140.00 a night or anywhere near that amount for this or any other motel/hotel room in Fort Stockton. The town is over-run with oil field workers that are willing to pay top dollar for a place to sleep. The motels/hotels in this town are taking advantage of all who stop and want a room. Drive thru Fort Stockton if going west to Van Horn/El Paso or going east to the next big town Ozona about 1.5 hours away or Sonora an additional 45 minutes away for reasonable rates in decent motels/hotels. Our stay at the Inn was acceptable considering the action in the area; something like San Francisco during the gold rush days!

  • May 06, 2013 by Aude b

We randomly stopped in Fort Stockton on our way to El Paso, and were really delighted by the welcoming at the Holiday Inn Express. Though we found the price a bit high for the location, we were pleased as rooms were clean, staff was very friendly and breakfast was really really good ~ we particularly enjoyed the pancake machine and the cinnamon rolls!!! Plus had diner at the steakhouse opposite side of the road ~ we really had a great time!

  • May 06, 2013 by Debra471

You are better off going to Comfort inn down the road. This place was dirty, lots of noise, and Very uncomfortable. I've stayed at many Holiday inn express, and this is the first that didn't give a discount for Military. They way overcharge you. I paid $130. and believe me, it was wasted.

  • Apr 08, 2013 by dro1945

A really nice property. Very nice breakfast, liked the pancake machine! Best motel breakfast I have had in a long while. The location is convenient enough, but hardly scenic. No complaints about the property or service, but it was a bit pricy.

  • Mar 18, 2013 by jmia

We stayed at this Holiday inn express on our way to another destination and we were happy with it. I thought $140 plus tax was a little high though. I am a priority rewards platinum member and I had to ask to be upgraded instead of them doing it automatically like they usually do. Maybe the day shift are asleep at the wheel. Overall it was a good stay and the breakfast was the typical holiday inn express fare.

  • Mar 16, 2013 by surfingmo

Driving from Los Angeles to Dallas with my daughter for her job relocation, stopped here for the night, hotel was nicely decorated and seemed new, furnishings were clean and bed comfortable, but what we were here to do is sleep, and you could hear everyword the neighbors were saying while the kids were running around the room boucing off the walls at 11pm at night, the water running through the walls (the Pipes) sounded like a running toilet all night, there was some lady screaming in the halls about something, and on top of that it was 150.00 in the middle of nowhere, not to pleased. Diffently not worth the price.

  • Mar 04, 2013 by Erin H

My husband and I stopped here for the night on our way from DFW to Big Bend. We needed a place that had a decent Wi-Fi connection as we were still needing to do some remote work before going off the grid in Big Bend. My two negatives for the place was the Internet connection was slow and the quality of the exercise room was poor. I tried to use the exercise room and even saw another guest on the treadmill, but the elliptical was really substandard and I gave up trying to use it. Plus, the room was hot and the remote to the gym TV was missing. Pluses: great hot breakfast, nice clean rooms and modern bathrooms, and close to Wal-Mart for getting supplies for the road. Breakfast included warm cinnamon rolls, pancakes, sausage patties, eggs, biscuits and gravy, bagels and cream cheese, English muffins or toast, yogurt, hot or cold cereal, orange juice, and of course coffee. I just wish for the money we paid that we had a higher quality Internet connection for business use, and a nicer exercise facility.

Stopping for a night and only need a bed? Then, this is an average accommodation. I certainly would not return for an extended stay. I debated giving a terrible "1 dot" rating, but, the people are nice and for that reason only do I upgrade them to "2 dots" for a poor rating as based on my own experience as a long stay guest. The guests' laundry dryer has been broken for 3 or so months. No management should allow that. It doesn't matter whose fault it is or whose obligation it is to have had it fixed. Don't hold your guests hostage on things like that. We need service, not excuses. My experiences going to the coin-operated 24 hour laundry in Fort Stockton were not ideal either. If the suites are all alike, the little wash basin for dishes is about the capacity of one gallon. You can't wash dishes without slopping water all over the place. So, what to do? You got it. Washed my dishes in the bathroom sink. Not exactly ideal, but, necessary. I've stayed at quite a few Holiday Inns/Expresses in my days on the road. I've not had the experience in any others of not being able to sleep because the guests in the room next to me snore. It was almost like they were IN my room. Same with TV. Consequently, I had to run the heater fan all night for some white noise to help drown out, but not totally eliminate, the noise from next door. Again, the people are kind. No complaints there. And because of their kindness, it was difficult for me, but, I relocated to another hotel in Fort Stockton and am glad I did. Now, I've got more room, at less cost, a big sink for my dishes, better and consistent internet. (Oh. I forgot that. The connection at the Holiday Inn would come and go. I never knew if I'd have something important in progress where I needed a good signal that it might just evaporate and lose a connection.) I wish I'd started where I am, instead of the Holiday Inn.

Spent one night in Ft. Stockton driving from AZ to TX. Good location, away from I-10 and set back from the street. Easy to get in and out. Restaurants and shopping nearby. The room was much bigger than a normal two bedroom suite. Our stay was quiet and the staff was very friendly. The breakfast was great!

  • Jan 06, 2013 by Megan

Possibly the largest hotel rooms I've ever seen! And very clean and modern!

We stayed 2 different nights one going to Arizona and the other returning from Arizona. The staff was friendly and efficient. The room was very clean and spacious. We liked having the refrigerator and microwave to store and enjoy our snacks. Breakfast was great. Eggs, ham, biscuits with gravy, fruit, muffins, bagels, sweet rolls, pancakes, good coffee and a pleasant room to sit and enjoy our breakfast. We did not have any issues with noise. Oh, and the cookies that were available when we arrived were a nice tough. Definitely recommend.

  • Dec 20, 2012 by alexanderSpain

Well we had a good overnight stop. Big king room/suite, in fact enormous room. We were right by the breakfast room on the ground floor and that made it easy for breakfast in our room. Good breakfast and good parking. Good wifi. .Easy to find. Not good for local restaurants---get a take in from Domino's. I would stay again.

  • Dec 10, 2012 by lil_men00

I loved our stay! The service is great. The rooms are really big and clean. The beds are so comfortable and the sheets even smelled so fresh. In the morning there is a nice breakfast buffet and fresh coffee. I would definently recommend this place to anyone!

  • Nov 24, 2012 by Challenger07

I stopped for one night on route to the Guadalupe National Park. The staff were very friendly and breakfast was typical HI express. I found the hotel clean and smart and didn't have any noise issues that others have reported. I was very disappointed with the comfort of the bed. It seemed to have a thick plastic sheet on the matress which was quite noticable and unlike other hotel matress protectors.

Why stay here when you can go down the street to Comfort Suites and save $40 per night for great rooms.

  • Nov 14, 2012 by bizinthecity

Stayed here 1 night and probably won't stay again. Hallways are in desperate need of a good vacuuming and are badly stained. While the beds and the pillows were very comfortable, the sheets were well worn.

I really hate to give bad reviews, since most merchants mean well. This property is in need of serious renovation--as in "rebuild all walls". We were unfortunate to be roomed next to some jerk who turned his TV up at max volume, and we could hear every single line of dialogue, soundtrack, and commercial jingle from our room as if the TV was on our bed. To the front-desk's credit, after contacting them--twice-- to do something about it (first time they called the room [which we heard the phone rings for--the walls are that thin] and no one picked up), someone at last went to the room and shut the TV off. The jerk actually just left the TV on at max volume and weren't even there. Of course later in the night the person returned and promptly turned the TV on loud, and we had to go through the same front-desk-calling dance again. He did pick up and lowered the volume this time: a bit. Definitely did not get a good rest/sleep. Also we had requested to change the room at the beginning within 30 min of check-in, but was told all rooms are sold out...saw many other people check in after and the parking lot looked half-empty? Elite treatment: There was no platinum recognition, not even a bottle of water. Given an average room with a view of the workers in the workshop next door throwing 2x4s into the dumpster next to some rusted cars. Food: Besides the biker-type steakhouse across the road, there're no other restaurants within walking distance, and we ended up driving to a Pizza Hut to get dinner. Breakfast is the standard HIE cinnabons and pancakes fare. Not a good stay.

After a long day on the road traveling from a long weekend in Vegas we made reservations with Holiday Inn Express in Stocton knowing we would be paying more, but believing we would be assured of a clean, and comfortable stay. Our first problem came when we called from the road and asked what exit we should take. It was as if it had been the first time that kind of question had ever been asked of them. Mrs front desk said, I'm not sure what exit, but it has a picture of food and services on the sign." We called a second time hoping to talk to someone else, and got the same voice who told us it may be exit 227. We took that exit, and after driving up and down the street and finding every hotel in town but Holliday Inn Express, we called front desk lady who had a very difficult time trying to guide us to the hotel. As it turns out we should have been directed to take exit 226. I would think ANY person working front desk in a motel should know the exit. Then if that wasn't bad enough the room was motel 6 quality, very wrinkled sheets (you wondered if they had been slept a few times) Shame on you Holiday Inn Express. When a person pays $140.00 a night, you would think there would be consistency in quality of their rooms. We should have stayed at Motel 6 it would have saved us seventy dollars, and my guess they would have had clean sheets, and maybe even would have known the exit. I don't think we will ever be able to stay at a Holiday Inn Express again.

I was driving from Houston to Los Angeles and had not routed out where to stop to sleep for the night, I pulled off the road in Ft. Stockton and drove down their main strip. There are plenty of hotels to choose from but, judging from the parking lot it looked like Holiday Inn would have a room available. I quickly found out why. I was told the charge for one night is $140.00!! I asked about discounts and like other posters here, was told they offer NO discounts of any kind. The front desk clerk was courteous but aloof, she repeatedly informed me NO PETS! NO PETS! There is a $200.00 fee if a pet is snuck into the room! Not a problem for me but I thought it strange how insistant she was. The room was clean and comfortable with a fridge and micro - they offer a complimentary breakfast, but I hit the road again too early to take advantage of it. In hindsight I would have held off for the El Capitan another hour west in Van Horn, but as they say hindsight 20/20.

  • Aug 22, 2012 by dennis h

Nice staff, breakfast, nice A/C, large rooms with refrigerators, micro wave ovens and coffee pots. The walls are very thin. I could hear the occupants in the next room talking and i could understand what they were saying. People let their doors slam when entering and exiting their rooms and it is very loud. I was awakened 3 times by slamming doors.

I'm sure nobody chooses to "visit' Ft Stockton, TX since it's in the middle of nowhere but we stayed here during an 1800 mile road trip. Of all the choices of hotels in this town, Holiday Inn would have to be the most decent. It was clean and seemed to be updated. The bathroom was clean, water pressure was good, linens and towels were clean, there was a mini fridge in the unit and a small flat screen TV. This is your simple road trip hotel to stay in, not a luxury hotel by any means ! No room service but there are a few restaurants very close by. There is a Wal Mart a few minutes drive away. Parking is free, there is a business center that you can use to print documents, Wi Fi is free and there is a small pool and teeny tiny gym that does the job. Customer service was okay, everything seems to be a little s-l-o-w-e-r in TX.. I only saw 1 employee during any shift behind the counter and I never saw maid staff. The "free breakfast" was free for a reason. The only thing I found edible was cereal , OJ and some coffee which was worse than airplane coffee. You won't find any soy milk here or a Starbucks. This hotel was clean, convenient, and a decent stop for our road trip. You can't check out on the TV but check out was easy at the front desk. I felt the cost was a little pricey for the amenities but given Ft Stockton's remote location- there aren't many other hotel options.

  • Aug 09, 2012 by JaneS28

Stayed here with a group of coworkers in May, 2012. We were all on different shifts, but the staff went above and beyond to accommodate us all, even going as far as putting away breakfast for us, if we couldn't make it back in time at the end of our night shift. So friendly and so welcoming. Thank-you!!

  • Aug 06, 2012 by Richard G

We stopped here to rest on the way to San Antonio the room was very clean and the facility was well maintained the breakfast was ok. The bad thing was the door going into the room was very noisy and usually i leave the room in the morning to get some coffee and let the rest of my family rest some more but that door woke up everybody.

  • Jul 26, 2012 by Riley1956

Good find for being in the middle of no where. Rooms are clean and I'm very picky. We are in a suite -- the rooms are huge. Ate at I-hop which was close and very tastes. Parking right out front and our room Is over looking parking lot so we can keep an eye on car.

We arrived in Ft Stockton fairly late in the evening. We stepped in to the reception area and got the look of "what do you want???" Upon finding out the nightly price, we asked about any discounts for government, etc and they lady was VERY RUDE in stating that they did not offer any discounts. I was extremely disappointed! Needless to say, we walked out and went to the Comfort Inn, where they were pleasant and CHEAPER!!

  • Jul 01, 2012 by GM631

The reception staff was rude and unaccommodating; talking outside with family while guests were waiting to check in and having no leeway for 30mins early check-in even when the room was available. The cleaning staff's uniform of the breakfast area was soil heavily, beyond normal wear from a single shift. I could clearly hear the conversation of the couple staying the the room next to me and could hear the children playing in the room arcoss the hall; VERY thin walls. The hotel itself was very clean (inside and out) and was directly across the street from a great steakhouse so the night wasn't a total loss. However, with the price being double the hotel next door and 3 times the motels in the area one could find a better value in the area than to choose this hotel.

  • May 13, 2012 by Philip B

New, Clean, high priced. Not many options in Ft Stockton. No good restaurants in town.

  • Mar 26, 2012 by Yogi459

When I arrived I had been traveling many (8)+ hours driving from AZ. I expected to stop, immediately get checked in so I could rest. The ordeal took over a half hour. (their was no one there). The front desk manager attempted to check me in. He gave me a rate that was not commensurate with the government rate for Fort Stockton. I had let him know and showed him my government identification and requested the government rate. After the third attempt he finally succeeded, or so I thought. when I recieved the emailed bill, I was sent the bill of another guest(with all of their info.) I called the hotel and they got it wrong three more times. What a nightmare! The employees at this hotel have no work ethic, LAZY, rude, and lack of attention to detail. They continued to ask for information rather than writing it down.

My brother hooked us up with this room. Its clean, spacious, and warm

  • Jan 20, 2012 by CarolBPA

Recent repeated trips between AZ and TX have allowed me to stay in several of the very few hotels that line the very few towns between El Paso and Killeen. We stayed one night early in Thanksgiving week and had a 3.5 star experience. A large suite was adequate for 4 adults. My son slept on the sleeper sofa, which like most was relatively uncomfortable. The beds were good enough. We were on the top floor, which was quiet enough. Staff was fine, friendly enough, the breakfast was poor to mediocre. We stayed on the way back to AZ and had a 1 star experience. It was a very busy travel night, Saturday after Thanksgiving, and one person was manning the desk. We checked in with a limited wait (reservation in hand) and went to the room. Turned on the heat (it was a very cold night) and only had cold air. We waited a few letting it run, no warmer, to the front desk with at least a line of 5 ahead, finally got a new room. It did have heat. Decent night sleep, but delayed by two plus hours due to room issues. Breakfast mediocre. I will only stay there again if I have no other choice. I hope to stay in El Paso in the future, or continue on to Junction where there are other choices.

This is a very nice HI Express, but the walls a paper thin. You can hear normal conversation in the room next to yours and footsteps upstairs.

  • Jan 02, 2012 by The_RVQueen

Walls are paper thin and we heard the very loud hispanic family from 11pm to 1:45am until I had to call the front desk to complain. The third floor rooms were supposed to be quieter than the lower floors filled with children. The wall our beds were on backed to the wall the adjoining rooms beds are on so we heard every word the neighbors said. Problem was, it was after midnight and we needed sleep! The decor is very nice and the beds were luxurious and comfortable, as usual for HIX. Downstairs, the public bathroom really showed how quickly this location was built. Staff was fine and it was clean. Rude guests are beyond any locales control, but its something we experience more often than not. When combined with not solid construction and insulation the result is less than expected.

  • Dec 25, 2011 by JMarko-97

Hotel was clean and room was very nice. The room was a good size and had a separate seating area with coffee table. The staff was friendly. No real problems. The breakfast did not have not much of a selection. Also, the pre-prepared omelettes were overheated and not very good.

We (family of 4) stayed here on our way out to California. We often stay at the Hampton, but they didn't have any state government rate rooms left. Having stayed at the El Paso Holiday Inn with no real problems we expected it would be fine, and it saved us about $30. It was disappointing. The "Express" in the name stands for "skimp where ever possible". Although the place is pretty new, we noticed the wall paper looked kinda patchy. As a Priority Club member I usually get some extra amenities (like a bottle of water at least!) but none was offered. It was a chilly, windy night and some tea would have hit the spot, but all they had was decaf lipton. The real issue though was with the structure of the hotel itself. The walls were thinner than the toilet paper at the Hampton: the guests next door decided to have a phone conversation around 3am and woke our usually deep-sleeping children. It was as loud as if they were in the bed with us, we could hear every word (mostly dirty) they said. We called down to the front desk to deal with it, but it only lasted an hour or so. There were plenty of vacant rooms; I would have expected them to avoid putting people in adjacent rooms if possible. The quality of sleep is the number one factor in evaluating a hotel, and this one failed miserably on that count.

  • Dec 14, 2011 by Daniel C.

The room was clean and comfortable. The grout on the bath tub was a little grimmy. The breakfast was edible, but not tasty; very very bland. Noice was an issue. We were on the first floor and it seemed as if there were dump trucks dumping loads all night long. The wifi that was provided was super slow and I ended up not using it because of that.

  • Oct 28, 2011 by Cynthia R

Most of the staff was attentive and helpful; greeting us whenever we saw them. The room was great - clean smelling, everything we needed and very clean. They only had two luggage cart and that was an issue - this hotel filled up rapidly due to its closeness to I 10. That was the only hiccup. The HIE 29 Palms, CA had friendlier staff and a much better tasting breakfast. Comparing these two HIEs, 29 Palms outclassed this one and had better breakfasts. This however would be my choice for a Fort Stockton hotel.

My wife and I stayed at this Holiday Inn Express on a Sunday night. We were on vacation and traveling to Marathon, TX and then onto Big Bend National Park. This is a newer hotel. It's in a great location because it's not right next to I-10...but close enough. Our room was very spacious and everything worked as advertised, including the WIFI (See my pictures of the room with all of our gear). We stayed on the third floor about halfway between the stairs and the elevator. It was very quiet. There is a windmill / well repair shop located behind the hotel that might be noisier during the week. The included breakfast is your standard cereal and pastry breakfast, which worked fine for us. For dinner, I would avoid K-Bob's and try to the newer IHOP (2129 Interstate 10 W) or one of the Mexican restaurants suggested in the room binder. There is a new super Wal-mart with grocery almost right across from this Holiday Inn Express. If you are traveling to Big Bend National Park, this would be a great place to stock up on everything you might need while camping. If you have time, be sure to take a picture with Paisano Pete, the road runner...and see the old town square, court house and historical Pecos County Jail.

This property is managed well. The staff is great. It was nice overall.

  • Aug 25, 2011 by Austrekkers

All the other negative reviews seem to be true. Front desk treated us like everything was too much trouble to bother with, the room had little soundproofing, there appeared to be hair (animal?) on the carpets of our room, there is no benefit for being a rewards club member nor is there any government or military rate. We have used Holiday Inns from South Carolina to Arizona with no complaints, until this hotel. Give this one a miss.

  • Aug 18, 2011 by Faye M

My husband and I stayed there while traveling to New Mexico and we will never go back. The girl at the front desk with the earrings in her nose was very unfriendly, she didn't greet us in a friendly manner, nor did she offer us any amenities for being Prioroty Reward members, not even bottled water. When the reservations were made we requested a top floor room away from elevators,we were put on floor 2.When I asked about this she didn't aknowledge it.One would think that since we were using our points to pay for the room that we would have at least gotten what we asked for. The hotel wasn't even full,it looked hardly busy at all. The bathroom was dirty and looked as though it really needed a good cleaning. My husband went down to use the computer and the business area was extremely dirty and in dissarray, there were papers thrown everywhere. The one computer that was there took forever to power up, the printer didn't have any paper and sounded as though it was on it's last leg. We went down for breakfast before we left the next morning, looked around the breakfast area, turned around and walked out. There were dirty tables everywhere, the trash was overflowing, the place was filthy! We looked at each other, turned around and walked out.We checked out, went down tthe road to the store and got something for breakfast there. The trash can on the outside of the hotel was also overflowing and the outside looked as though it could use a good cleaning as well.We typically stay at HIE's but have never stayed at one that was this nasty! I sincerely hope that they get it cleaned up but I won't know because we will not be going back.

This is a good stopover when making that long trip through Texas. Very nice, clean hotel with a great hot breakfast. Easy access to I-10 without being right next to all the noise of the highway.

  • Aug 05, 2011 by shetravels11

We stayed one night at this Holiday Inn on 7/29/11, and were overall very satisfied with the property. We arrived at at almost 3 am from our travels, and the front desk staff were very quick about processing our check in and getting us up to our room. The room was large (one of the "suites") with a king bed, and had good furniture (a sofa, desk, flat screen tv, microwave, and fridge), and was clean. The location was right off I-10, so easy to get too. There was a complimentary breakfast (two kinds of eggs, pastries, pancakes, yogurt, juice, fruit, etc.) in the morning and free wireless internet. The hotel seems like it has taken a bit of wear in the hallways and room, but I imagine they do get a lot of traffic in Ft. Stockton. But it was clean, and just a few years old, so it was still good. We paid $135/night for a suite, so not the best deal. But we were desperate at 3 am with hardly any hotels in the entire area of TX because of nearby hotels. Overall, a good hotel. Would stay again on our next trip through Fort Stockton.

  • Jul 28, 2011 by oldguy1

We stayed at this hotel for 1 night while passing thru town, arriving at about 9pm. It looks nice on the outside. The room was ok, with the bathroom looking a little tired and not as clean as I like with water spots everywhere. The main problem was the construction of the hotel. They must build them as cheap as they can to get a good return on their investment. The people in the next room checked in around midnight, and watched TV until 2 am. It was not turned up very load, but you would swear it was in your room, right behind our headboard. We were also on the 3rd floor above the hotel entrance. and the cars ideling outside sounded like we were on the ground floor. All this for $134 a night! I will when ever possible avoid any more new looking Holiday Inn Express's as they are probably all built the same cheap way, which means NO sleep!

Reasonably priced, clean rooms, friendly service, great location. Fridge in the room and complimentary continental breakfast. Great location to stop on the road.

  • Dec 18, 2010 by mugsydogg

The sign out front says "now open" so you'd think it was brand new. Supposively it is, but it doesn't feel like it. The hallways and rooms/furniture are somewhat torn up or banged up and the bathroom fixtures were old looking (my tub drain stop was completely removed, and I had a toilet plunger inside a plastic bag next to the toilet?!) Biggest complaint was the thin walls. I've stayed in a lot of hotels with thinner walls, but I could hear EVERY word from the guy in the next room.

  • Dec 09, 2010 by Gary S.

Clean rooms, comfy beds, pleasant staff, TERRIBLE INTERNET, .5 mbps down / .15 mbps up with latency of 125-250 during peak hours. 2 stars because when you travel for business and need to transmit data, the internet is a priority. My coworkers and I are here for 2.5 weeks, and have all had the same problems with slow and/or disconnecting internet services. This hotel is over 80% full most of the time, you'd think they would get a better internet package. Just my experience and opinion. Happy Trails.

  • Oct 12, 2010 by Cindy85648

We stay at a Holiday Inn Express in Arizona that, in our opinion, rates 10 stars so we thought all the Holiday Inn Express hotels would be the same - wrong. This is a new hotel but is shabby. The decor is horrendous; the carpets were not vacuumed, there was a bottle of water in the refrigerator (who used it???), the outside lights were like a 747 shining their light in our bedroom, hair in the bathtub - need I say more? Yuck. Never again.

  • Sep 30, 2010 by Tate20

Beginning to enjoy the consistency of the Holiday Inn Express lines when traveling away from major cities! It was a great place to unwind after 200 miles through canyons and the mountains on the motorcycle.

  • Aug 11, 2010 by GeraldGabbert

I guess all reviews are comparisons with prior experiences. I have stayed in over 100 hotels, but have never encountered finding a filled ice bucket in the fridge. What is this? Unsanitary and dangerous. The halls are not air conditioned. Are we back in the 50's? It is over 100 degrees. Wanted to use the business center and was told the computer was broken. The rooms were nice, but one guest had to be moved because their room was dirty upon checking in. All of this is a management problem. This is a well built nice facility, but if you put a $1000.00 suit on a pig, it is still a pig.

  • Jul 03, 2010 by DaisyB7

Let me start with the positives. This is a brand new hotel. The rooms are very nice, beds are comfortable, showers are great. The rooms are clean, and the breakfast was good. I was prepared to write a great review until I settled into the room, turned off the t.v. and tried to get some sleep. I could hear everything in this place from a barking dog to the annoying buzz of the elevator buttons when someone presses the floor. In a place like this, I was just looking for some good sleep after a day of sightseeing and driving before I started my next day of driving and sightseeing, and that was not possible.

  • Jun 24, 2010 by john3013

We arrived at 9:30 the front desk representative was awesome. He offered us a upgrade due to us breaking down. The other front desk personnell were great. The room was very roomy, and the breakfast was great. The best stay ever ni competition.

  • Jun 22, 2010 by John B

This place is almost brand-new...smells and looks new anyway. Our room is great...front desk personnel at check-in was great. K-Bob's Steak Restaurant across the street gives 20% discount if you show them your hotel key...very good local food and drink. Paid $77 on Priceline, including all fees...not bad for a cross-roads town where you would pay the same for a dump. Walls are a bit thin, though...can hear the neighbor.

  • Mar 22, 2010 by JosiahVinson

New hotel 2010. Spacious. Nice. Thin walls, though.

  • Feb 12, 2010 by Igavegoldieaway

This is my third business trip through Fort Stockton, and this place is definitely the best in this little town. It's a typical Holiday Inn Express; big rooms, big bathrooms, a nice chair, comfortable bed, free wi-fi, free breakfast. I do think the rooms are very overpriced since everywhere in town they are $70, but it is definitely worth it to stay in a new, nice comfortable room with a decent breakfast. I'll be back.

  • Feb 02, 2010 by Cbbi

We had great luck with Holiday Inn Express Hotels on our recent road trip from Louisiana to California. HIE cost a few dollars more than we usually pay for an overnight stop during a road trip but we found they were more than worth the $. This hotel was very clean and inviting. A basic breakfast was included in the rate. We called ahead and told the person managing the desk we would arrive very late. He (Sammy) was extremely nice on the phone and made check in fast and painless. The double bed/couch setup worked great for our family of 5. We left everything strapped to the car and all was there and fine the next morning. No safety concerns. (Hint - Ask for a room facing the parking lot if you are traveling with a lot of cargo so you can check on it for your own peace of mind). We didn't stop in Fort Stockton on our way across Texas the first time. I didn't think we would be able to find a decent hotel. I was wrong. If your travels take you across the long hwys of West Texas you'll find a good night's sleep here.

This is one of the newest members of the Holiday Inn Express (HIE) properties--apparently they opened in October 2009. The rooms were huge & very clean. I love the 4 pillow concept with each pillow labeled "soft" or "firm." The mattress was great--soft but firm support. My husband and I have been driving across the country and we've been staying at Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites everywhere we go (except for Carlsbad which was full). This property is definitely one of the best ones. Breakfast is standard HIE: dry cereal assortment, small bagels, scrambled & hard boiled eggs, biscuits, bacon, juices, etc. My one comment about this place was that it was a tad bit hard to find late at night because it's brand new so it's situated at the end of a street. We were driving along the street where McDonald's is located and it's actually *parallel* to that street. But, the only major cross street required us to backtrack a bit, then proceed back in that same direction. As an aside, there's a little breakfast cafe called Cafe Pepito's down the street from the HIE which has a great cold rice-milk! Yum!

Beautiful, classy new hotel. Rooms were large and beds were plush. Great bathroom with lots of storage areas. Flat screen TV's. Frig and microwave. Beautiful, cozy beakfast area with full breakfast; i.e., fresh scrambled eggs, bacon, and biscuits, plus the usual cold cereal and sweet muffins, and yogurt which we hadn't seen at other hotels, bagels, and fresh fruit. Would highly recommend this hotel. The staff was friendly and personable.
